Usa ka gatus ka healthcare worker ang naghunahuna, naghinumdom, ug nag-atiman sa ilang kaugalingon atol sa pilot program nga Kalig-On, nga gilunsad niadtong Nobyembre 28, 2025, sa Dakbayan sa Mati, Davao Oriental, aron suportahan ang mga naapektuhan sa doublet earthquake sa probinsya.

Ang programa nagtutok sa mental health support, resilience, ug coping strategies para sa mga nurses, doktor, ug hospital staff, ingon man sa pag-ila sa emosyonal ug sikolohikal nga karga nga ilang gidala isip mga frontline responders. Apil usab sa kalihokan ang psychological first aid, resilience exercises, ug modules sa personal strength, emotional balance, teamwork, ug goal setting, aron matabangan ang mga partisipante nga molig-on ug makamao sa pag-atiman sa ilang kaugalingon ug sa uban.

Gidumala sa Davao Oriental State University, ang programa kauban ang Provincial Health Office, Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center, Selah: Davao Oriental Mental Wellness Hub, Diocese of Matiโ€“Commission on Health, St. Camillus Hospital of Mati, Inc., ug Doctors Without Borders. Ang mga partisipante naglakip sa healthcare workers gikan sa PHO, DOPMC, St. Camillus Hospital, Inc., ug DOPH-Lupon.

Gipalig-on pa gyud ang programa pinaagi sa bag-ong kolaborasyon sa ABS-CBN Foundationโ€“Sagip Kapamilya, nga gitambungan mismo sa program head niini nga si Mr. Marcel R. Riรฑon, nga nagtanyag og go bags nga puno sa comfort items, herbal tea, ug stress-relief tools isip pasalamat sa walay puas nga serbisyo sa mga healthcare worker.

Today, we joined the Training of Trainers on MHPSS organized by the Department of Tourism Region XI in partnership with the Davao Center for Health Development.

After weeks of unsettling news following the series of earthquakes that struck the province, a welcome breather comes as Davao Oriental earns national recognition for its strong commitment to mental health and employee well-being.

Selah: Davao Oriental Mental Wellness Hub has been named the Winner of the Liwanag ng Manggagawa (Employee Well-Being Champion) Award at the Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc. (PMHA) Liwanag Awards 2025, held at Seda Vertis North Hotel, Diliman, Quezon City.

Among the nominees for the category were the Mind Care Center โ€“ Department of Psychology, Perpetual Help Medical Center Las Piรฑas (CARE Program: A Holistic Approach to Psychosocial Support for the Perpetual Help Medical Center Las Piรฑas Community) and Miriam College Foundation, Inc. (School Community Well-being and Mental Health Integrative Lifestyle and Well-Being Program). Selah emerged as the winner, bringing pride to the province and highlighting the growing recognition of Davao Orientalโ€™s efforts in mental health promotion.

The Liwanag Awards honor institutions that have demonstrated exemplary initiatives in advancing mental health in their workplaces and communities. Representing the province in receiving the award were Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, Provincial Health Officer II and Chief of Hospital of Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center, and Dr. Rose Anelyn V. Ceniza, Selahโ€™s resident psychologist.

Launched in 2023 under the Provincial Health Office, Selah has become a cornerstone of employee well-being within the Provincial Government. It provides counseling services, psychosocial support, and mental health education for employees and has since expanded its reach to schools and communities through awareness sessions, capacity-building trainings, and wellness activities.

Overseeing the implementation of Selah is Provincial Mental Health Program Manager Mr. Rezmarquel Pann, who works closely with the PHO Resilience Team to ensure that mental health services remain responsive and inclusive. Even amid the recent earthquakes that disrupted hospital operations, Selah continued its workโ€”offering psychological first aid, stress debriefing, and mental wellness support for health workers and employees affected by the disaster.

Selahโ€™s milestones are also a nod to the strong leadership of Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang, whose administration continues to prioritize the well-being of provincial employees and communities. Under his direction, mental health has become an integral part of local governance, fostering a culture where care and well-being are given space to thrive.

Currently, she is attending the lecture-workshop of Dr. Imelda Virginia G. Villar, Chairperson of the Professional Regulation Board in Psychology, on โ€œAging with Grace: Assessment and Managing Psychosocial Concerns and Promoting Wellbeing in Older Adults.โ€

The team is led by Dr. Rose Anelyn V. Ceniza (Selahโ€™s resident psychologist), alongside Dr. Maria Ge**er (Chief Resident, Family & Community Medicine, DOPMC), Loyflo Caugmoc from the PHO, and faculty members Maria Geraldine S. Polinar and Ker Maybano from DORSU.

We are also running capacity-building sessions at the same time training local responders to deliver basic psychosocial support to ensure more hands are ready to help as the situation unfolds.
