Autism Matters is a two-day, in-person learning experience created for those who want to understand autism beyond labels, behaviors, and protocols—and instead through the lens of neurodevelopment, relationship, and lived experience.
For this 2026 offering, Kim Barthel will be debuting newly updated data, frameworks, and clinical insights on autism for the very first time in the Philippines. These updates reflect the evolving understanding of autism through neurodevelopmental science, relational neuroscience, and whole-body systems, integrating research with deeply human practice.
Autism is not a checklist.
It is a complex neurodevelopmental experience shaped by biology, environment, sensory processing, movement, immune function, and connection. When autism is reduced to techniques alone, we miss the child. When we understand the systems beneath behavior, support becomes clearer, more respectful, and more effective.
đź“–In this course, participants will explore:
-Updated scientific perspectives on autism, including neurodevelopment, epigenetics, and the gut–brain–immune connection
-How sensory processing differences influence regulation, participation, and daily function
-The role of relational neuroscience and co-regulation in creating safety and supporting learning
-Movement and motor planning through a strengths-based, autonomy-honoring lens
-How these elements come together to support autistic individuals holistically across home, school, and clinical settings
Autism Matters is not about “fixing” children.
It is about understanding them more deeply, so our work aligns with dignity, science, and authentic human connection.
🌏This course is designed for:
-Occupational, speech, and physical therapists
-SPED teachers, psychologists, and educators
-Doctors and allied health professionals
-Parents and caregivers seeking a deeper, science-informed understanding
