The Philippine Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (PSDBP) joins the medical community who is in deep mourning for the passing of Dr. Cornelio G. Banaag, Jr.
Regarded as the Father of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Philippines, Dr. Banaag is an honorary fellow of the PSDBP, a distinction awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the field of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics in the country.
As a dear teacher and mentor, he was generous with imparting to us his knowledge and wisdom that was shaped by his vast and complex experiences in the field spanning many generations.
More than a multi-awarded and renowned Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, he was a compassionate healer, educator and advocate for mental health for the youth and professionals.
Beyond his pioneering work, Dr. Banaag was regarded as a true and compassionate person whose service knows no boundaries or conditions, that is why his loss deeply resonates with all of us.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.
His legacy will live on through the many people he helped and the communities he helped build.
