The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2025 is more than a moment of remembrance. It is a collective call to honor, overcome, and lead.

Moncada Remembers. Moncada Rises. Moncada Leads. Together, we can .

We Remember the lives lost to HIV and AIDS, whose stories continue to inspire the fight for life, dignity, and equality.

We Rise with every individual, family, and community who bravely face stigma and discrimination each day.

We Lead the way in building a healthier, more compassionate.
Moncada, where no one is left behind.

Each candle we light carries hope:
Hope for a Moncada where everyone regardless of status, gender, or identity can access free and life-saving HIV services.
Hope that fear is replaced with facts.
Hope that judgment is replaced with understanding and love.

To protect ourselves and others is to lead.
Here’s how we can take action today:
A. Use condoms, lubricants, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
B. Get tested for HIV regularly
C. Stay on Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) and remain virally suppressed

Globally, people are at risk of developing a Food and Waterborne Disease (FWBD) because food and water can be contaminated at any point of its production. It has also been estimated that 1.8 million people worldwide die each year as a result of diarrheal diseases, which is the most common manifestation of FWBD.

In the Philippines, diarrhea remains as one of the 10 leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the country. The Department of Health (DOH) recognizes the magnitude of the problem caused by FWBDs. It also acknowledges that a successful prevention and control program revolves around strong advocacy and awareness, partnered with strengthened service delivery, surveillance, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation.

Hence, as we commemorate the Food Safety Awareness Week on October 25-31, 2020, it is important to be mindful of the five keys to safer food and the importance of hand hygiene.
