Listen to Mr. Lugo’s story, and learn from stories like his. Let’s beat Ate Rose! ❤️

Prevent atherosclerosis by controlling your risk factors (high cholesterol, high blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, to***co use, etc).

Detect atherosclerosis early through blood tests, treadmill stress tests and, if needed, cardiac imaging tests.

More exercise = more happiness + more brain protection from dementia

And you don’t have to be an elite athlete!
30 mins of exercise x 3-4x/week = brain protection (and cardio benefits!) 💪🏻 🧠 ❤️🏃🏻‍♂️ 🏃🏻‍♀️

Daig ng maingat ang mayaman.

Mahal ang magkasakit. Pero gaanong kamahal nga ba ang magka-heart attack or stroke sa Pilipinas?

The second article in this 3-part series published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer looks at the cost of heart attack and stroke care in the Philippines, how much Philhealth pays for, and some things you can do to lessen the risk of another heart attack or stroke.

And an important update on the article for Philhealth members: Simula 2025, sagot na po ng Philhealth ang up to 523k pesos sa hospitalization kung kayo ay magkaroon ng heart attack at mangailangan ng coronary angioplasty.

(Part 2 of 3) First part: Deadly grip of cardiovascular diseases on Filipino families MANILA, Philippines—Heart attacks and strokes are among the most well-known medical conditions in the

Mag-ingat po tayo sa masyadong madaming sodium. At hindi lang po sa asin. 🧂 Isama pa dito ang chichirya and French fries, gravy, cheese/cheese sauce, instant noodles, karneng de lata (corned feed, luncheon meat, etc), buillon cubes, toyo, patis, bagoong, etc. 🍕 🍟 🍜 🌭

Hindi po bawal kundi bawasan at pag-ingatan, para ang blood pressure at ang kidney function may mapangalagaan. ♥️

Hindi lahat ng may high blood pressure ay may nararamdaman. Know your blood pressure by measuring it. Kapag medyo tumataas na (stage 1 Hypertension), start doing some lifestyle modification: eat less salty foods, eat more fruits and vegetables, and exercise regularly. Kapag madalas na sa Stage 2, kumonsulta sa inyong doktor.

Happy Heart Month! ❤️

Nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure, putting them at higher risk for stroke and heart disease. The only way to know if BP is in a normal range is to measure it. Small steps can make a big difference.

Don’t just look at your total cholesterol. Look at your bad cholesterol or LDL, and aim for the ideal target. What is “normal” for one person may be too high for you. 🫀

*For those who have had a heart attack, stroke, angioplasty or bypass surgery, lowering your LDL to less than 55 mg/dl has been shown to be better at preventing future heart attacks or strokes.

LDL cholesterol, the “bad” cholesterol, can cause fatty buildup in the arteries. High LDL can raise the risk of heart attack or stroke, but often has no symptoms. A simple blood test can tell you your LDL number. Various research studies have shown when it comes to LDL, "lower is better."
