Dr. Gerald Abesamis is a board certified plastic surgeon practicing in the southern Manila corridor -- Manila, Alabang & Santa Rosa, Laguna. He has been recently conferred the title of Fellow of the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (PAPRAS), the only recognized society for plastic surgery by the Philippine College of Surgeons and the Philippine Medical Association.
A proud graduate of the the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Plastic Surgery Residency Training Program, he is skilled in all aspects of plastic surgery involving both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. With two years of international experience, his particular interests include Facial Aesthetic Surgery, Aesthetic Breast Surgery, Breast Reconstruction, Body Contouring Surgery, Reconstructive Microsurgery, Burns Surgery and Advanced Wound Care.
He started his medical career in 2010 after finishing his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the 7-year medicine INTARMED (Integrated Liberal Arts and Medicine) Program of the University of the Philippines Manila - College of Medicine. He then pursued a six-year straight Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Subspecialty Residency Training at the UP-Philippine General Hospital, which he successfully completed in 2016.
He then spent the following two years in Fellowship training in Australia where he sought further training in Reconstructive Microsurgery, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery, Body Contouring / Post Weight-loss Surgery, Facial Aesthetic and Elective Plastic Surgery at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, serving as the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow from 2017-2018, under the mentorship of Professor Anand Deva, a world renowned expert in breast implant biofilms and translational research. He subsequently completed another year of Fellowship in Acute and Reconstructive Burns Surgery at the Victorian Adult Burns Service in The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne from 2018-2019 with Dr. Heather Cleland, a leading expert in burn care and research, as his mentor.
