October 15 is 𝓖𝓵𝓸𝓫𝓪𝓵 𝓗𝓪𝓷𝓭𝔀𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓓𝓪𝔂 , this a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases. 🧼🫧🧴

The theme for this year’s celebration is “𝙱͢𝚎͢ 𝚊͢ 𝙷͢𝚊͢𝚗͢𝚍͢𝚠͢𝚊͢𝚜͢𝚑͢𝚒͢𝚗͢𝚐͢ 𝙷͢𝚎͢𝚛͢𝚘͢”. Let us all fight germs and save lives! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

MunSci joined this global celebration through series of health talks conducted by Nurse Ana, about proper handwashing as the simplest yet most effective way to combat the rising cases of Influenza-like Illness. Handwashing demonstration were also done by learners to show their support in this advocacy 👋🏽

Youth for Environment in Schools Organization - MunSci stepped up and became and Heroes of Environment! They conducted room to room awareness of proper handwashing and they also distributed proper handwashing steps poster.

This Global Handwashing Day, lead by example! Practice and promote handwashing with soap in our school, your family and community to protect everyone’s health.

By washing your hands with soap and water you can protect yourself and others from infectious diseases like influenza.

Ang Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) ay mga sakit na may mga sintomas tulad ng trangkaso, lagnat, ubo, sore throat, at pananakit ng katawan. Dahil sa pabago-bagong panahon at dagsa ng mga tao sa pampublikong lugar, mas madaling kumalat ang mga virus na ito.

🔹 𝐏𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐰𝐚?
Ang Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) ay mabilis na naipapasa mula sa isang tao papunta sa iba sa pamamagitan ng hangin (mula sa pag-ubo o pagbahing) o kontaminadong mga gamit.

🔹 𝐌𝐠𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬:
- Pamamaga ng lalamunan
- Sipon
- Pananakit ng ulo
- Panginginig
- Pananakit ng katawan
- Panghihina
- Pagsusuka
- Pagtatae

🔹 𝐏𝐚𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧?

✅Ugaliin ang paghuhugas ng mga kamay
✅Takpan ang bibig at ilong kung nauubo o nababahing
✅Iwasan ang matataong lugar kapag may mga sintomas
✅Magpabakuna laban sa trangkaso (flu vaccine)

Ang pagiging maingat at malinis ay makakatulong sa pagpigil ng pagkalat ng sakit na ito.

Kung makaramdam ng sintomas ng influenza-like illnesses ay agad na magtungo sa pinakamalapit na health center sa inyong lugar.

🩺 What is ILI?
ILI is defined as fever (≥38°C) and cough and/or sore throat, without a confirmed diagnosis of another disease.

📌 Protect Yourself and Others:
✅ Wash hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based rub.
✅ Wear face masks when coughing, sneezing, or in crowded areas.
✅ Avoid close contact with people showing flu-like symptoms.
✅ Stay home if feeling unwell to avoid spreading illness.
✅ Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
✅ Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

🏥 When to Seek Medical Attention:
🔺 Difficulty breathing
🔺 Chest pain
🔺 Persistent high fever
🔺 Weakness or altered mental state
🔺 Symptoms in very young children, elderly, or those with chronic conditions

This is more than just a facility—it is a strong step forward in strengthening our school’s commitment to the Water Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools or WinS program.

Through these new stations, we believe that we can empower our students to form lifelong hygiene habits that prevent illness and promote well-being. Clean hands mean fewer absences, more time to learn, and healthier futures.
