𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The BMC Regional Orthopaedic Center celebrates 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗼 𝗣. 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 for completing his 𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 at 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 last November 25, 2025.

From his Foot and Ankle Surgery training in Seoul to his recent fellowship in Singapore, Dr. Sales brings home valuable skills and fresh insights from his mentors abroad.

As he returns to BMC, he carries a renewed commitment to improving patient care. This achievement is a proud moment for the whole ROC team and for Bicolanos who look up to him.

This milestone comes at a meaningful time for BMC, as the Orthopaedic PhilHealth Z Package is now available to qualified members. Patients can access quality care for hip and knee replacements, fracture surgeries, hospital admission, and rehabilitation. The implants for primary Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement are provided for free, making these life-changing surgeries more accessible. With the dedication of our ROC doctors, more patients can receive safe, reliable treatment close to home, and we continue to expand our services for the people of Bicol.

We celebrate this milestone with Dr. Sales, his family, and everyone who supported his journey. Another Bicolano making us proud and bringing world-class expertise back to the community.

𝗗𝗶𝗼𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘀, 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗻! ✨ | Our very own BMC Diabetic Foot and Wound Care Unit Head Nurse, Mr. Mark Francis S. Samillano, was invited as one of the resource speakers and trainers during the 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗢𝗚 𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗨𝗚𝗔𝗧: 𝗔 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, held last November 26 to 27, 2025 at the 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 (𝗦𝗠𝗠𝗚𝗛𝗛𝗦𝗖). He was joined by Mr. Francis Jan Floresta of the Trauma and Burn Care Center.

This two-day training aimed to strengthen the competency of SMMGHHSC nursing staff in assessing and managing burn injuries and diabetic wounds through a hands-on, skills-based workshop. Participants learned about wound pathophysiology, proper assessment and documentation, wound hygiene, evidence-based dressing techniques, infection control, and recognizing complications.

Chronic wound scenarios including diabetic foot injuries, pressure injuries, and other hard-to-heal wounds were also presented. Participants shared their nursing care plans and demonstrated their wound care management for each case.

We extend our gratitude to the hospital management, especially Mr. Nicole D. Pilapil, RN, MAN, Assistant Chief Nurse and Training Officer, and Mr. Rolly Dante D. Alaurin, RN, MAN, Chief Nurse, for the warm welcome and trust. We hope this training helps raise the standard of wound management and supports better patient outcomes.

We are proud to announce that our very own Musculoskeletal Tumor Consultant, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗟. 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗹, has just been re-elected for a third year to the 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗢𝗔) during the 76th POA Annual Congress.

Since becoming a Trustee in 2024, Dr. Bertol has represented our center with excellence and commitment. Her re-election shows how much she’s trusted for her hard work, steady leadership, and genuine care for patients who need orthopaedic care.

LOOK | The BMC Regional Orthopaedic Center proudly celebrates 𝗗𝗿. 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝗚. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶 for earning 3rd Place at the 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗿. 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗥. 𝗚𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘇 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘀, hosted by the 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 (𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗣) during its 25th anniversary celebration. The event gathered resident trainees from orthopaedic training programs across the country.

Together with his co-author, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗮 𝗦. 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗹, Musculoskeletal Tumor Consultant and BMC ROC Research Coordinator, their presentation brought pride and recognition to the BMC Regional Orthopaedic Center on the international stage.

The BMC Main Hospital's Out-Patient Department (OPD), Rehabilitation Medicine, Cancer Center, BUCAS (DSJRMMH), and the Out-Patient Department at the Department of Psychiatry (DSJRMMH), Brgy. Cadlan, Pili, Cam. Sur will be closed on Friday, October 31, 2025.

Likewise, the BMC Main Hospital's Out-Patient Department (OPD) and Physical Rehabilitation Medicine Center will be closed on November 1, 2025, Saturday.

October 31, 2025 and November 1, 2025 has been declared as Special Non-Working Days as per Malacañang Proclamation No. 727 in observance of All Saints’ Day Eve and All Saints’ Day respectively.

NOTE: As a DOH-retained hospital, BMC's wards and Emergency Department will still operate 24/7.

The BMC Regional Orthopaedic Center conducted its Strategic Planning 2025 on October 25–26, 2025 at UMA Hotel and Residences, Naga City.

The activity was graced by Mr. Rodel A. Saño, RN, MAN, BMC OSM Compliance Officer, who guided the team in aligning the Center’s strategic directions with the goals of the Bicol Medical Center.

Attended by ROC consultants, residents, nursing service personnel, and administrative staff, the two-day planning session brought together every member of the ROC family, each playing an important role in shaping the Center’s goals and shared direction for the year ahead.

On Day 2, the team revisited, reviewed, and revised the Manuals of Operation and Residency Training Manual to ensure continued growth and excellence in service delivery.

United in purpose, the BMC ROC family continues to uphold its commitment to provide excellent orthopaedic service for every Bicolano. 💪

𝐁𝐌𝐂 𝐑𝐎𝐂 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 | The BMC Regional Orthopaedic Center received a Plaque of Recognition from the Bicol Medical Center Office for Strategy Management for achieving a 100% Specialty Center Functionality Score for 2025, in full compliance with the Department of Health (DOH) standards based on the Resource-Stratified Framework Checklist.

The award was accepted by Dr. Wilbur B. Belleca, ROC Chairman, on October 22, 2025, at Uma Hotel, Naga City. This recognition reflects the shared commitment and teamwork of all the men and women of the BMC ROC team, demonstrating what can be achieved through collective effort and dedication.

The BMC Regional Orthopaedic Center remains steadfast in advancing quality orthopedic care for every Bicolano.
