In celebration of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Week 2025, held from July 7 to 11, 2025, the Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPCU) organized a series of meaningful activities aimed at raising awareness, educating healthcare personnel, and promoting best practices in infection prevention.
With the theme โIPC CHAMPIONS: LEADING THE WAY TO SAFER HEALTHCARE,โ the week-long observance brought together healthcare professionals and staff to reinforce their roles in minimizing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and combating antimicrobial resistance.
Day 1: The IPCU officially kicked off IPC Week by hosting the Flag Ceremony on July 7, 2025 in collaboration with IDTM, HESU and Bicol Medical Center HACT

3rd- Regional Orthopedic Center
4th- Communicable Disease Ward
5th- Surgery Ward
A special awarding ceremony was held to honor nurses who have significantly contributed to the development, growth, and success of the IPCU namely, Wilhelmina C. De Castro, RN, MAN, MDM (Nurse VII/Chief Nurse), Sherill Anne M. Nepomuceno, RN, Ph.D (Nurse VI/Asst. Chief Nurse), Marilou P. Valencia, RN, MAN, Ph.D, JD (Nurse VI/Asst. Chief Nurse), Henry V. Prestado, RN (Nurse V/Department of Psychiatry), & Ms. Maria Josefina Ros, RN (Nurse IV/HESU&IDTM).
These individuals were recognized not only for their technical skills and compliance with standards, but also for their unwavering passion, leadership, and advocacy that have shaped the culture of safety and infection prevention within the institution.

Day 2-3: On July 8-9, 2025 the IPCU held a 2-day seminar-workshop titled: โSeminar-Workshop for Nurses on Hospital Infection Prevention and Control.โ with credited 8 CPD units.
Day 4: (IDCP) meeting on July 10, Dr. Cherry Pinky Budao presented the latest updates on the facilityโs Antibiogram. The session provided valuable insights into local antimicrobial resistance trends and guided clinicians on empiric antibiotic choices.
