PRIMARY SURVEY: The ABCDE Approach That Saves Lives🩺
In any trauma or emergency situation, the Primary Survey helps health workers quickly identify and treat life-threatening conditions. Every second counts — and ABCDE is the guide that makes every action faster and safer.
🔹 A – Airway
Check if the airway is open. Protect the cervical spine at all times.
🔹 B – Breathing
Assess breathing, chest movement, and provide oxygen if needed.
🔹 C – Circulation
Control bleeding, check pulses, and address signs of shock.
🔹 D – Disability
Quick neurological check using AVPU or GCS.
🔹 E – Exposure
Expose the patient to check for hidden injuries while preventing hypothermia.
