🌸 Celebrating Filipino Elderly Week 2025 🌸

Last October 1, the Bicol Medical Center, in partnership with the Public Health Unit, proudly opened the Filipino Elderly Week Celebration at the BMC Main Auditorium. The event was graced by our Medical Center Chief, Dr. Ronnie Gregorio B. Gigantone III, who delivered the opening remarks.

✨ To promote wellness, Tai Chi Naga guided our retirees and geriatric patients through a calming Tai Chi exercise — an ancient Chinese practice that enhances balance, flexibility, and inner peace.

💡 The celebration also featured insightful talks:

Ms. Niña Gañgan, Physical Therapist, on Exercise as Medicine

The day was made even more memorable with fun games, raffles, and a booth tour with the support of various pharma companies. Truly, a meaningful celebration honoring the wisdom, strength, and joy our elderly bring to the community. ❤️👵👴

⚕️AKTIBONG REHABILITATION THERAPY, NAPATUNAYANG EPEKTIBO SA PAGPAPABUTI NG KALAGAYAN NG STROKE SURVIVORS ⚕️

Ayon sa isang pag-aaral, 60 % ng mga stroke survivors na hindi makalakad ay naka-recover pagkatapos ng tatlong buwang aktibong rehabilitation therapy.

💡 Ang Physiatry ay ang sangay ng medisina na tumutok sa paggaling ng pisikal na kakayahan at kalidad ng buhay ng pasyente matapos ang sakit o injury, gaya ng stroke.

📌 Saklaw ng PhilHealth ang serbisyo ng mga Physiatrists—kabilang na ang initial assessment, follow-up, at discharge assessment, na may halagang ₱1,200 bawat isa.

PHYSIATRY IN MOTION

Celebrated every July 17, the National Physiatry Day, through Proclamation No. 1017, Series of 2020, coordinated with the Department of Health, aims to raise awareness and understanding of physiatry, also known as physical medicine and rehabilitation.

It is also integrated into the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week, further emphasizing the connection between physiatry and the well-being of people with disabilities.
