In Filipino culture, there’s a belief that suddenly bathing or washing up while very sweaty or overheated might cause pasma—a condition said to involve trembling hands or chills. However, this isn’t backed by medical evidence. What might be risky is using ice-cold water immediately while your body is still very hot—this can cause a sudden shock, possibly leading to dizziness or fainting, especially in people with heart conditions.

Best practice:
• Let your body cool down a little (around 5–10 minutes) before showering.
• Use lukewarm or cool water instead of ice-cold water to avoid sudden changes in body temperature.

So go ahead and bathe—it’s good for you. Just ease into it if you’ve been sweating buckets.
