Arcade Adventures is a fun and competitive part of the Peer Expedition where participants engage in various games that test teamwork, quick thinking, and adaptability. These games are designed to be lighthearted yet strategic, encouraging friendly competition while promoting focus, patience, and cooperation among participants.

Each arcade session includes several mini-games, puzzles, board games, online games, or challenges that may vary by season. Participants may compete individually or in teams, depending on the type of game.

Aligned with the principles of the Peer Facilitators Club, Arcade Adventures promotes empathy, active listening, respect, and mutual support. It creates a safe and inclusive space where travelers can build trust, strengthen relationships, and support one another through both wins and challenges. Through this initiative, we aim to encourage personal growth, emotional awareness, and a strong sense of community among all participants.

After World War II, many countries—including the Philippines—faced not only physical destruction but also a hidden crisis: the psychological trauma experienced by soldiers, survivors, and civilians. People were dealing with grief, anxiety, and what we now understand today as post-traumatic stress, but during that time, mental health awareness was still very limited and often misunderstood.

In response to this growing concern, a group of Filipino civic leaders, doctors, and educators gathered on December 15, 1949, at the University of Santo Tomas gymnasium in Manila. During this important meeting, Dr. Eduardo E. Krapf—a visiting consultant from global mental health organizations—recognized the urgent need for a national effort focused on mental well-being.

He proposed creating a movement dedicated to addressing mental health issues in the Philippines. His idea quickly gained support from those present, who saw how urgently the country needed structured mental health services and public awareness.

As a result, the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) was officially established. It became one of the pioneers in promoting mental health care in the country—focusing on education, prevention, and treatment. Over time, PMHA helped reduce stigma, introduced community-based programs, and encouraged Filipinos to view mental health as an essential part of overall well-being.

At that time, mental illness was often misunderstood, feared, or even ignored. Many people avoided talking about it due to stigma and lack of knowledge. Organizations like PMHA played a crucial role in changing this mindset—helping transform mental health from a taboo subject into something that could be openly discussed, understood, and properly cared for.
