A Gentle Reminder for Parents 💕

Last night, my 5-year-old son and his daddy had a conversation:

Son: “Daddy, di ba binigyan mo ng flowers at chocolate si Mommy dati?”
Dad: “Oo.”

And his daddy replied:

Kids are so observant.
They notice the little things we often overlook.
They feel every tone, every silence, every smile, every argument.

That’s why we have to be mindful of our words and actions.

LET OUR HOUSE BE A HOME, NOT A BATTLEGROUND.

Wala po tayong clinic on November 20 (Thursday) dahil
a-attend po ako ng seminar.
Maraming salamat po sa inyong pang-unawa.

Sometimes I feel that we were meant to experience this kind of government, not because we deserve pain, but because the country needed to wake up. A painful lesson, but a necessary one. Maybe this is how we finally learn to choose leaders with wisdom, not just with desperation.

We have become so used to ayuda, incentives, and tulong, that we forget, these are not gifts… they are supposed to be our rights.

One of my patients once looked at me and asked,

And my heart broke a little. Because that is not ignorance, it is survival. When you are sick, hungry, or scared, you cling to anyone who gives help… even if the help is only meant to keep you dependent.

But health care, education, and assistance are rights, not favors to be repaid with loyalty. When help is treated like a personal gift, it creates dependency instead of empowerment. And that is how corrupt systems survive, by keeping people needing instead of thriving.

But we deserve more than crumbs. We deserve a system that cares for us even when elections are far away. A government that protects us because it is their duty, not because they expect our vote.

And lately… it feels like even nature is speaking.
The earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, storms, they shake more than our homes, but they reveal who truly leads… and who merely talks.

Sometimes it feels like the world is whispering to us:
“Hindi mo matatakasan ang katotohanan. Hindi mo mapipeke ang malasakit.”

And while it is tragic that lives are sacrificed before the majority learns, every struggle and every loss can become a seed of awareness, one that can grow into real change.
If we learn, then their sacrifices will never be in vain.

Not medically related but grounded in the realities I encounter as a doctor caring for people who suffer the most.
