Taal Volcano is currently under Alert Level 1, emitting high levels of sulfur dioxide, resulting in volcanic smog or "vog" affecting Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a precautionary advisory, urging residents, especially those living near Taal Volcano, to take necessary precautions due to the hazardous effects of the sulfur dioxide emissions. The smog or “vog” can cause irritation to the eyes, throat, and respiratory tract, with the severity depending on the concentration and duration of exposure.
𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬:
• Wear a face mask when outside to minimize inhalation of harmful particles.
• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to prevent throat irritation.
• Consult a doctor or healthcare professional if you experience any adverse effects from the volcanic smog.
Follow health guidelines to protect yourself and your family during this period of increased volcanic activity.
