An early morning visitor. 🐦

This is one of my firsts for 2024, a bird visiting my window sill plants! I just finished watering the plants at around 6:00 am then I opened my PC to start working on some online content pieces. 30 minutes later I was hearing some chirping & rustling that was unbelievably close by.

Before, I did some attempts to encourage birds to visit our window sill by leaving out some sesame seeds & water for them to feast on. However, they might not have seen it or not have found it enticing, so I left it at that.

I thought it was just a loud bird that’s from the neighbors across, but when I looked back at the window, it was a bird in my very own garden! Ahh, I was so happy! 😄

It turns out that early morning-watered plants make a nice water bath for them to clean their feathers before taking flight once again.

I started my gardening journey around a decade back. It started with one plant at a time, usually given to me as a gift.

As I practiced, there were those that did not make it in the long-run due to external factors that I learned to observe & control little by little. As I got better at looking after my current plants, I came to realize that I was excited to see any new leaves that may sprout as each new day comes.

And when they grow bigger & healthier, it makes me feel proud of myself & there is that sense of accomplishment. I guess that’s what it means to believe in tomorrow as you start planting your own garden.

Last November 2023, when me & my hubby went out on our very first international trip as a couple, it was a blissful 4 days of expanding our perspective of the world.

In those 4 days, unfortunately, I came back with my window sill plants withered, with all its green foliage fallen. After a week or two of heavy watering, my White Angel plants were able to bounce back with new leaflets growing. But I was seeing no signs of re-growth with my Calamansi & Pomelo plants.

I was contemplating if I should discard my citrus plants & get new ones to replace them. Even so, I continued watering them along with my White Angel plants consistently.

Lo and behold, at the peak of the year-end holidays was when I saw signs of re-growth, which was roughly a month and a half later. It got me giddy on the inside knowing that my green thumb did not give up & saw things through

I guess it can be the same thing when it comes to our ‘desert season’ in life. In those moments, we may feel that things are hopeless with nowhere to run to for comfort or shelter. But in those trying times is when we have to steel our resolve & believe that we will find our oasis in the vast desert.

Simple Spruce Ups 3/3: Calendars. 🖼️

I do have a wall & desk calendar given to me, but this year, I do want to put into the spotlight this undated monthly calendar that I printed out from my Digital Forest Blooms Planner designed by Cynthia Bauzon Arre.

Whenever on a road trip or leisurely stroll, I enjoy looking up at any tree that I come across, and having pretty art of hand-drawn trees on my calendar makes me excited to go sight-seeing all over again.
