Dienogest is a oral progestin effective for long-term management of endometriosis to significantly reduce pain (dysmenorrhea, chronic pelvic pain) and improve quality of life. More recent studies shows dienogest to be also effective in controlling painful symptoms and uterine bleeding in women with adenomyosis.

Common side effects:
1. irregular, often heavy, uterine bleeding, especially in the first 2-3 months
2. mood swings
3. breast tenderness
4. potential anemia if with heavy or frequent bleeding.
