Not all essential oils were created equal. In choosing oils to be used in children, we have to consider several factors because their skin is more delicate and sensitive compared to ours.
Remember that CHILDREN are NOT little ADULTS.
Consider the following key tips when choosing oils:
• Purity - organic/all-natural, therapeutic grade
• Safety - avoid in newborns and infants less than 6 months old; do not let children ingest it
• Avoid "hot" oils that may irritate skin
• Dilution - never use undiluted oils in children
• Carrier oil - used to dilute essential oils; know what is safe for children's skin
• Patch Test - ALWAYS perform patch test before using the oil to your child
Some essential oils can be used safely in children but require strict safety measures to avoid skin irritation, toxicity, or respiratory issues.
Disclaimer: Essential oils are used for symptomatic relief and should not replace medical advice.
