LOOK: Stress Debriefing

PMAJ ALVIN I SALIALAM, Chief, NP Section together with Pat Ryan V Nitollano, Psychometrician PNCO conducted stress debriefing to 103 RMFB 14-B personnel held at Maluso Town hall, Brgy. Townsite, Maluso, Basilan dated March 13, 2026, at about 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.

Further, stress debriefing for PNP personnel serves as a structured intervention aimed at helping officers process the emotional and psychological impact of critical incidents encountered in the line of duty. Its primary purpose is to provide immediate support that allows personnel to ventilate feelings, normalize stress reactions, and prevent the development of long-term psychological conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder or burnout. By creating a safe environment for reflection and discussion, stress debriefing strengthens resilience, enhances coping mechanisms, and promotes mental well-being among officers. It also fosters team cohesion by encouraging collective healing and reinforcing solidarity within units, which is vital for maintaining morale and operational readiness.

Furthermore, stress debriefing ensures that PNP personnel can return to their duties with clarity, emotional stability, and renewed focus, thereby safeguarding both their personal welfare and the effectiveness of police operations.

BULACAN SHOOTING CASE SOLVED IN 48 HOURS; TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) swiftly arrested two suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a police non-commissioned officer in Brooklyn Heights Subdivision, Panginay, Guiguinto, Bulacan, resolving the case within 48 hours through coordinated intelligence and police operations.

The suspectsโ€”a 43-year-old former police officer believed to be the gunman and a 42-year-old alleged driverโ€”were arrested on March 10, 2026 following focused follow-up operations conducted by police units. They are now under police custody and are facing charges for murder, frustrated homicide, and violations of firearm and explosives laws.

The incident occurred on March 8 during a homeownersโ€™ association gathering when the armed suspect suddenly opened fire at the crowd. The police officer sustained fatal gunshot wounds while a 54-year-old resident was injured during the incident.

During recovery operations, authorities also seized fi****ms, ammunition, motorcycles, mobile phones, and an explosive device, which are now undergoing further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., lauded the swift and coordinated response of the operating units and investigators that led to the immediate arrest of the suspects.

He added, โ€œThe swift resolution of this case demonstrates the PNPโ€™s strong commitment to uphold justice and ensure accountability.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of our fallen officer, and we assure the public that justice will be pursued without delay.โ€

The PNP continues to strengthen its operational and investigative capabilities to ensure that public safety and the rule of law remain top priorities, consistent with Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., took part in an inter-agency anti-drug operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) that led to the arrest of two male high-value drug suspects and the seizure of suspected shabu worth โ‚ฑ47.6 million during a buy-bust operation at around 2:30 PM on March 11, 2026 in Sibutu Proper, Tawi-Tawi.

The operation was executed by the PDEA Tawi-Tawi Provincial Office, Sibutu Municipal Police Station under the Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office, the 1405th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14, the Philippine Coast Guard Substation Sibutu, and the Marine Battalion Landing Team of the AFP. This accomplishment reflects the PNPโ€™s commitment to Enhanced Managing Police Operations, a key priority of the PNP Focused Agenda, strengthening sustained enforcement against illegal drugs in communities.

โ€œOperations like this show that our law enforcement units are relentless in dismantling drug networks and ensuring accountability,โ€ said PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. As the PNP intensifies law enforcement against illegal drugs and criminal activities in border and coastal areas under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of โ€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.โ€
