How miraculous are they that no matter the diagnosis or the odds stacked against them, they gave their very all until the very end.

How miraculous are they that their first breath and their first heartbeats changed the course of history forever.

How miraculous are they that their life here on Earth forever changed the family from which they were born. Forever shaped how this family will see and love in this world.

So Angel mama, tonight we recognize the miracle that is your Angel baby. We honor them with you and we honor their miraculous fight for life. We see their life reflected in you, and we see the impact their life has left on so many others. We remember them with you by who they truly are: A miracle.

Sometimes my heart just breaks when I think back to the day my NICU baby was born.

For months, the only world they had ever known was the quiet rhythm of my body — my heartbeat, the gentle warmth of my womb, the soft safety of being held so close. And then suddenly, far too soon, they were thrown into a world they weren’t ready for.

Bright lights. Loud alarms. Strange hands. Needles, tubes, machines.

So much noise. So much chaos.

I can’t help but wonder how terrified they must have been. To go from such peace and protection to fighting just to breathe. To be so tiny and fragile while the whole room rushed around them.

It shatters my heart to imagine what that moment must have felt like for them.

But when I look at them now, I’m also reminded of something else — how incredibly brave NICU babies are. Before they even take their first real breath in this world, they are already fighting battles most people will never understand.

They may start life surrounded by machines instead of lullabies, but NICU babies are some of the strongest souls I know.

And if I could go back to that moment, I would whisper the same thing over and over:

You were never alone.You were loved every second.And you were stronger than the storm that greeted you.

NICU babies are the tiniest fighters with the biggest courage. 💛
