The Medical City Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism concludes its Diabetes Awareness Week celebration with an event entitled, “Sayaw at Saloobin: A Zumba and Lay Forum for Patients with Diabetes” at The Medical City, 4th floor conference room.

The event was made even more special by the presence of ZIN Chona, our ever-energetic and well-loved guest Zumba instructor, who got everyone moving and grooving with her infectious energy— and Dr. Karen Vega, our esteemed Endocrinology consultant, who generously shared her knowledge and expert insights on diabetes care and management.

The Section would like to thank everyone who joined us in this event especially the members of our Diabetes Support Group. Though the event was delayed by inclement weather, your presence today made it all the more meaningful. Your energy, presence, and participation made this gathering special. We danced, we learned, and we connected — all in the spirit of promoting health, awareness, and support for our diabetes community.

Let’s keep moving, keep learning, and keep supporting one another. 💙 Until our next event! Maraming salamat po.

The Medical City Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, together with the Endocrine, Diabetes, and Thyroid Center, celebrated Diabetes Awareness Week by imparting knowledge on basic insulin physiology and delivery skills to nurses through a hybrid lecture entitled “Insulin Management Today: Essential Knowledge for Every TMC Nurse.”

The two-part session covered key concepts on insulin — including its indications, types, and mechanisms of action — followed by an interactive discussion on insulin administration techniques and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) application.

The lecture was attended by nurses from across the TMC network, both online and on-site; and medical clerks from the ASMPH.

Reinforcing our knowledge and understanding of insulin is a vital step toward boosting confidence in caring for and educating patients living with diabetes.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all attendees, both virtual and in-person. We look forward to seeing you at our future events!
