For Lab tests at the comfort of your home and less the risk of community exposure.

Amidst the crisis brought about by the pandemic, we know not everyone can come to us, so The Medical City launches “TMC Lab on Wheels” which offers laboratory services right in front of your doorstep, bringing you convenience and timely access to precise laboratory testing.

We provide convenient and accessible means of specimen collection for a wide range of laboratory procedures to patients who are not able to come to our hospital. Our highly-skilled Medical Technologists collect these samples that will provide essential information to your physician to decide the next steps, if any, in your treatment plan.

COVID 19 : SUDDEN LOSS OF SENSE OF SMELL OR TASTE (PAGKAWALA NG PANG AMOY AT PANLASA)

Covid 19 usual symptoms are Fever, cough and shortness of breath. But another symptom that is also found in Covid 19 patients is the Sudden Loss of sense of smell (Anosmia) or changes in sense of taste.

A variety of viruses can attack the cranial nerves related to smell or the mucosal tissue that surrounds those nerves. Cranial nerves control things in our head and neck -- such as the nerves that allow us to speak by using our vocal cords, control our facial motion, hear and smell.

For example, COVID-19 is just one type of disease caused by a coronavirus. There are many other types of coronaviruses that cause colds and upper respiratory illnesses, as well as rhinoviruses and influenza viruses. Any of these viruses are known to cause inflammation, either directly around the nerve in the nasal lining or within the nerve itself. When the nerve is either surrounded by inflammatory molecules or has a lot of inflammation within the nerve cell body, it cannot function correctly -- and that is what causes the loss or dysfunction of smell. And it can happen to anyone: young and old, healthy and sick.

Stay at home.
Always wear a mask(the right kind. No masks with exhale valves please)

Useful timeline in determining what test is more appropriate for covid depending on the date of exposure and onset of symptoms.
Within 7 days from onset of symptoms, best is PCR. 1-2 weeks after onset of symptoms, Rapid test (IgG, IGM) would be more appropriate .

While masks with valves are designed to ease exhalation and decrease humidity for the wearer, they do not block transmission of COVID-19 because they allow exhaled air and droplets to escape.

The Department of Health is recommending the use of flu and pneumonia vaccines to prevent the additional complications from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Thursday.

’It can help you kasi para hindi nagkakaroon ng additional complication ‘yung mga mayroong may COVID-19. ‘Yung mga nagpapa-flu vaccine or pneumonia vaccine, we do not advise against it. We even recommend it because we have that program as well,”
