A few days ago, I was in the airport in Indonesia.

I was waiting for my flight when I saw “Foot Reflexology” for a few Rupiah.

Being a sucker for bargains, I couldn’t resist. (Yes, I’m a Cheapo.)

So I sat down on a lounging chair, gave my foot to a reflexologist—and got ready for a refreshing half-hour of bliss. I closed my eyes and was expecting to doze off…

"Ahhhhhh…."

But in two seconds, my "Ahhhhhh" became "AAAAAAAAAARAAAAAAAAAY!"

That was when I realized I was not in the Philippines.

The reflexology I get in the Philippines is relaxing.

But I noticed that in other Asian countries, reflexology is what they use to get the truth out of terrorists. “Where did you plant the bomb? You don’t want to tell us? Give me your foot…”

I swear that the tiny fingers of my therapist were made of adamantium, the same substance of Wolverine’s claws.

That day, I also realized I would never become a good martyr. Because I wanted to scream, “Stop! I confess! I did it! Whatever it is!”

But my therapist kept smiling at me, even if my face looked like I was dying.

“Are you okay, Mister?” she asked, “You look sick. I increase pressure to drive out the bad spirit...”

“NOOOOOOOOO!” I said. "Bad spirit out already. My soul gone too, already talking to God..."

But as I was moving in between consciousness and semi-comatose, I recall one quote I read somewhere: Do you want the pain of therapy or the pain of sickness?

And it was true. After my reflexology session, I felt… relaxed. For one, I still had my feet intact. I thought she crushed them to pulp. Yeheey I still can walk.

But honestly, I felt wonderful.

Better. Lighter. Stronger.

Friend, are you going through big problems right now?
