Is the Philippines ready for a specialized medical university soon?

Members of the Philippine delegation pose for a photo after a meeting with the American University of Health Sciences (AUHS) in Signal Hill, CA as part of the stop of the ongoing Philippine US HIMS Roadshow organized by HIMAP.

One of the premier medical universities in California, AUHS discussed with the delegation the possibility of partnering for a full blown university in the Philippines to specialize in MDs, USRNs, and Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences graduate courses. This initiative further highlights the significance of the Philippines in addressing the rising global talent demand for healthcare information management services worldwide.

The results are in!

The new Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) Board of Trustees (BOT) for 2026-2028 have been named during the HIMAP Annual Membership Meeting held today at Shangri-la at the Fort, BGC, Taguig. Of the nine (9) available slots, the top 5 nominees will have two-year terms while the rest will have one (1) year terms, respectively.

The top five winners were all re-electionists which included VISAYA’s CEO, Julian Valenzuela. Joining him are Dr. Salin Cataria (Carelon Global Solutions Philippines), JL Botor (WorldSource Philippines), Vincent Remo (ADEC Innovations Healthcare), and Atty. Darwin Mariano (Optum).

Completing the new Board of Trustees with one-year terms are: Lylah Ledonio (Leechiu Property Consultants), Rhea Latoga (Pointwest Technologies), Bree Cerdenia-Ramos (Shearwater Health), and Marick Miraflor (TP in the Philippines).

The new BOT members were selected from a total of 22 nominees and were voted for by designated company representatives of all HIMAP-member companies.

Congratulations to the new HIMAP Board of Trustees and we are looking forward to the continuation of programs that will steer the Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) sector in the Philippines further!
