Our very own Reginald Ivan Tayko from VISAYA Dumaguete has been crowned the first-ever Hymns of HIMS Champion during HIMSCON 2025, held at Shangri-La The Fort, Bonifacio Global City.

With an outstanding 98.5% average score, Reginald outclassed 12 other finalists from HIMAP-member companies across the Philippines — a true testament to his passion and talent.

The event, organized by the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), caps the two-day HIMSCON 2025, the biggest gathering of HIMS professionals in the country.

VISAYA CEO and HIMAP Board Trustee, Julian Valenzuela, joined the DICT-led career fair at SM City Laoag to share insights on the future of healthcare information management.

Alongside fellow HIMAP Board Trustee Marianne Castillo, who delivered a session on HIMS career pathways, JLV spoke on industry perspectives that will guide students and job seekers as they explore careers in the IT-BPM sector.

With HIMAP’s advocacy and the support of Mayor James Bryan Alcid and Vice Mayor Carlos Fariñas, VISAYA continues to champion HIMS careers and expand access to meaningful work in the regions.

The event featured a panel discussion moderated by VISAYA CEO and CCAP Board of Director Julian Valenzuela that explored timely economic trends and strategic outlooks for the Philippine BPO and KPO sectors. Members of the panel were Atty. Roel Refran, Executive Vice President and COO, The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. Our CEO and HIMAP board trustee, Julian Valenzuela, joined HIMAP and DepEd ECAIR in designing stronger links between senior high school and healthcare BPM careers.

𝗛𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗣, 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗛𝗦 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗜𝗠𝗦 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀

On July 8, 2025, HIMAP met with Dr. Rafaelita Aldaba, Senior Advisor to the Department of Education ECAIR and the Philippine Qualifications Framework Council Secretariat, to discuss possible collaborations aimed at improving senior high school (SHS) alignment with the healthcare IT-BPM sector.

The discussion explored how DepEd and HIMAP could co-design an internship program that reflects actual industry needs, providing SHS students with more meaningful exposure to healthcare information management services (HIMS). Revisiting the existing ICT Tech-Voc strand to integrate HIMS concepts, or potentially developing a dedicated HIMS track, was also proposed.

Both sides recognized the urgency of bridging education and employment, particularly in future-ready sectors like healthcare outsourcing. Capacity-building for educators and curriculum reform were identified as key levers to prepare students for real career pathways in the digital health economy.

Our CEO, Julian Valenzuela, joined industry leaders during the HIMAP Q2 GMM to speak on workforce development in healthcare outsourcing.

As part of the panel on “Education Reforms and Micro Credentialing to Meet the Growing HIMS Industry Requirements,” he emphasized the need for sustainable education models that align with real industry demands.

Other panelists included Richard Abendan, PhD of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and Marianne Castillo from Accenture, with Salin Kataria, MD from Carelon Global Solutions Philippines moderating the session. The dialogue focused on closing talent gaps in the HIMS sector through concrete, scalable solutions.
