HIV Crisis explodes in the Philippines!
In 2014, 14 individuals per day were diagnosed of having HIV.
In 2015, there were 21 new cases per day.
And as of February 2025, the number of newly diagnosed HIV case per day is 55.
Region VI is at top 6 with 5% newly reported cases in the second quarter of 2025. And the province of Iloilo logs over 2000 HIV cases; highest in Region VI.
What’s concerning is among those new infections, 34% are young people aged 15-24yo, 46% at 25-34 yo and 18% ages 35-49 yo.
Majority of the infected individuals were men and a small percentage were women but 47 of them were pregnant at the time of diagnosis. This was as of April to June 2025 DOH Data.
Offering condoms is not about encouraging sexual behavior, it is about reducing harm, preventing infections, and empowering individuals to make safer choices.
