The Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility (BPMHOPCF), in collaboration with the Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS), successfully conducted the World AIDS Day 2025 celebration on December 9, 2025, at Silway-8 National High School, Brgy. Silway 8, Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The day started with an engaging poster-making contest in the morning, showcasing the creativity and awareness of our youth on STI, HIV/AIDS. The afternoon session featured a lecture proper, opening with remarks from Principal 3, Dr. Murdy D. Bautista, PhD.

Our Public Health Nurse 3, Vivien G. Agarcio, RN, EMT, delivered an informative lecture, highlighting the importance of continued advocacy, prevention, and care in our community. Heartfelt messages of support were shared by Chariz May V. Abalos, RMT, MD, CFP – Infectious Control Program Doctor-in-Charge, and by Zeneilzly Zhane Medrano – SK Chairperson of Brgy. Silway 8, represented by Shiela Mae Dacillio – SK Kagawad of Brgy. Silway 8.

A warm thank you goes out to the Barangay Council of Silway 8 for their unwavering support, and to the Silway 8 National High School for accepting our invitation and making this meaningful event possible. Together, we continue to raise awareness, strengthen responses, and move closer to a future free from HIV/AIDS.

𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟬𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 | 𝗕𝗔𝗞𝗨𝗡𝗔 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 & 𝗕𝗛𝗪 𝗔𝗦 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗬 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟 𝗛𝗘𝗣𝗢

The Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility (BPMHOPCF) in collaboration with the National Immunization Program (NIP) successfully conducted the Bakuna Champions Training and Orientation for Barangay Health Worker (BHW) Chairpersons as Barangay-Level Health Education and Promotion Officers (HEPOs). The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of frontline health advocates in promoting Routine Immunization and delivering effective health education at the community level.

The program featured:
🔹 Opening remarks by Dr. Mary Grace D. Salmorin, MD, MPH, JD - Municipal Health Officer, emphasizing professionalism, ethical practice, and the vital role of BHW Chairpersons.
🔹 An inspirational message from Vivien G. Agarcio, RN, EMT - Nurse 3 & BHW Coordinator recognizing their dedication and resilience.
🔹 Cynthia Lyn A. Gonzales – Polomolok BHW President, presented the accomplishments of all barangays, highlighting the collective efforts and achievements of the health workers.
🔹 A session on the National Immunization Program led by Sarrahjane D. Parrocha, RN - Human Resource for Health in representation of Ruby R. Pogoy, RN - NIP Coordinator, covering timely vaccination, catch-up strategies, and effective health communication.
🔹 A lecture on the roles of BHW Chairpersons as Barangay-Level HEPOs by Janrassel L. Sara, LPT - Health Education and Promotion Officer, highlighting health promotion and accurate community messaging.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Lourdes G. Constantino, RN - BPMHOPCF Admin Officer, expressing gratitude to all participants and encouraging them to apply their newly enhanced skills in supporting public health initiatives.

This training strengthened the competencies of BHW Chairpersons, reinforced collaboration among frontline health workers, and reaffirmed Polomolok’s commitment to preventive and promotive healthcare.

Last December 04, 2025, the Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility successfully held the Bakuna Champions Training to strengthen the capacity of community health advocates in promoting Routine Immunization and other essential health programs.

The activity opened with a message delivered on behalf of Mary Grace D. Salmorin, MD, MPH, JD – Municipal Health Officer, represented by Chariz May V. Abalos, MD, CFP, highlighting the vital role of grassroots health workers in sustaining Polomolok’s strong immunization performance.

Key sessions included:
🔹 National Immunization Program by Sarrahjane D. Parrocha, RN, focusing on timely immunization, catch-up strategies, vaccine confidence, and effective health communication.
🔹 Family Planning by Lourdes G. Constantino, RN, emphasizing responsible parenthood and informed choice.
🔹 STI, HIV & AIDS Awareness by Janrassel L. Sara, LPT, underscoring prevention, early consultation, and reducing stigma.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Constantino, who thanked all participants for their continued dedication to community health.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Council of Barangay Landan for their support, and to all the participants from Barangay Landan who attended the training.

This training strengthened the competency of our health workers and reinforced the municipality’s commitment to preventive and promotive healthcare.

Last November 28, 2025, the joint team composed of the PNP, BFP, MSWDO, STI/HIV Coordinator, Sanitary Inspectors, conducted a Series of Inspections and Monitoring in various food and non-food establishments within the municipality.

This activity aims to:
🔹 Ensure safety and compliance with local ordinances
🔹 Monitor proper food handling and sanitation
🔹 Check fire safety measures and emergency readiness
🔹 Strengthen community protection and welfare
🔹 Promote health awareness, including STI/HIV preventive measures
🔹 Uphold peace, order, and responsible business operations

Through collaborative efforts, the team continues to safeguard the community by maintaining a secure, healthy, and well-regulated environment, day and night.

The Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility proudly recognizes the dedication and hard work of our evaluators and 23 barangays during the flag-raising ceremony for successfully achieving Grade 1 – Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) status at both the Municipal and Provincial Levels.

This milestone reflects our community’s collective commitment to promoting sanitation, protecting public health, and ensuring safe and hygienic environments for every household. Through strengthened collaboration, continuous monitoring, and the unwavering support of our local leaders, each barangay has demonstrated exemplary compliance with sanitation standards and community-wide behavior change.

To our evaluators, thank you for your diligence, integrity, and commitment in assessing and validating each barangay’s achievement. To Mahintana Foundation, Inc. and Dole Philippines, Inc., thank you for your continuous partnership and support in strengthening our sanitation and community health initiatives. To our barangay officials, health workers, and residents, your active participation and ownership of this program made this success possible.

𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜

The Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) of the Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility (BPMOPCF) successfully conducted batches of Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for both medical and non-medical personnel. This initiative forms part of the office’s ongoing efforts to strengthen preparedness and responsiveness in the event of disasters, health emergencies, or life-threatening situations.

The activity was conducted under the leadership and guidance of our Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Mary Grace D. Salmorin, MPH, JD, whose continued support has been instrumental in strengthening the capability-building programs of the Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility (BPMHOPCF).

The activity was led and organized by the following HEM-B and BLS focal persons:

The sessions provided participants with essential competency-building activities, including lectures, guided demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Trainees were taught critical life-saving skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, proper airway management, and the use of vital emergency tools including the Bag Valve Mask (BVM) and the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). These competencies are crucial in ensuring prompt and effective response during emergencies.

Through this initiative, staff members gained improved confidence and readiness, reinforcing the commitment of the Municipal Health Office to maintain a workforce that is capable, responsive, and prepared to act when needed. The success of the batches reflects the continued dedication of BPMHOPCF, to fostering a safer and more resilient community.

Strengthening our community’s health begins with ensuring that every household and food establishment practices proper food handling. On November 27, 2025, another batch of food handlers and business owners participated in the Basic Food Safety and Pest Control Orientation conducted by the Sanitary Inspectors of the Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility (BPMHOPCF).

This activity aims to equip participants with essential knowledge on safe food preparation, proper hygiene, sanitation standards, and effective pest control measures, especially important as they prepare for their upcoming business permit renewals.

We also extend our appreciation to our partners and guests from the Go Forward Pest Control Company, who shared valuable knowledge on proper pest management, an essential component of maintaining safe and sanitary food establishments.

The orientation aimed to prepare food handlers and business owners for the upcoming business permit renewals by enhancing their understanding of safe food preparation, hygiene practices, sanitation standards, and effective pest control strategies.

More than meeting regulatory requirements, this initiative highlights our shared responsibility to safeguard consumers, prevent foodborne illnesses, and promote a healthier community.

Last November 26, 2025, the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) of the Bagong Polomolok Municipal Health Office Primary Care Facility (BPMHOPCF) spearheaded the Tuberculosis Awareness Program: Yes, We Can End TB - Commit, Invest, Deliver, reinforcing our collective mission to protect our communities through education and proactive healthcare.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s leading infectious diseases, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It commonly affects the lungs and spreads through the air when a person with active TB coughs or sneezes. Although TB is preventable and curable, challenges persist, especially with the rise of drug-resistant TB, making awareness and proper treatment vital for community health and safety.

We were privileged to be guided by 𝘿𝙧. 𝙅𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙝 𝘼. 𝘼𝙙𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙣, 𝙈𝙎𝘾, 𝙁𝙋𝘾𝙋, 𝘿𝙋𝙎𝙈𝙄𝘿, who delivered a comprehensive and eye-opening discussion on Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A Comprehensive Overview. Her insights shed light on the evolving burden of TB and the urgent need for strengthened efforts in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.

The event was actively participated in by our dedicated Rural Health Midwives, Human Resource for Health, and Barangay Health Workers, frontliners who play a crucial role in early detection, treatment support, and continuous community education. Their commitment remains the backbone of our TB control efforts.
