That is the price difference between oral antibiotic treatment for tonsillitis versus heart valve replacement surgery for rheumatic heart disease, a harmful complication of untreated tonsillitis.

When you have throat pain and fever that does not go away, please consult your ENT doctor immediately for proper assessment and antibiotic treatment if necessary.

Here is a weekend reminder about how you can care for your ears.

This is just a reminder to eat fish carefully and slowly.

And please make sure you remove the bones before chewing or swallowing, otherwise it might get stuck in your throat.

In case this happens, please do not attempt to remove the fishbone by eating large chunks of food (eg. banana, spoonfuls of rice), it may just embed the fishbone deeper into the tissues of your throat.

Pls go to your nearest ENT doctor or emergency room immediately to have it removed.

The surgical field has been evolving to involve more women.

One research shows that in 1991, only 3 percent of surgical consultants were women. Today, we see more women in the field, with our society, the PSO-HNS, having around 35 percent of fellows as women.

This International Women's Day, we celebrate the contributions of women in medicine and surgery, from the doctors, to the nurses, and all the frontliners working tirelessly in the hospitals caring for those who need them most.

Did an insect get inside your ear while you were sleeping? Or driving? Or running? Don't panic, just drown it first with oil ( yes pour it down your ear, not just dab q-tips with oil) as a first aid treatment. Then, you can go to your nearby ENT to have it removed.

Always make sure you have good post-op scar results. Have good technique. That's what the patient will see and remember.

This is a neck scar after branchial cleft cyst excision 5 years ago.
