“I feel safe now that I am using contraceptives. I am not afraid of having another unplanned pregnancy.”
Nat, a young mother from Puerto Princesa, was only 17 when she gave birth to her first child.
With the difficulties she is facing as a young parent, she decided to use injectable contraceptives with the support and guidance of her mother. “My mother agreed that I use contraceptives because the benefits were clear to her. I have the courage to use contraceptives, so that I won’t get pregnant again right away.”
“I may be a teenage parent, but I still have a long and bright future ahead of me and my child. I am willing to do everything in order to provide for my baby. I will take care of him the best way I can, and I will strive to graduate.”
“For the many young people like me out there, please don't rush into family life. Please take care of yourselves and your future. Find out about contraceptives that can protect you from getting pregnant early.”
As we celebrate World Contraception Day on September 26, 2021, remember that it is necessary to prevent unintended pregnancies, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic still plagues the country.
