The Nursing Standards on Intravenous Practice were established in 1993 as guide for those who are and will be practicing intravenous therapy. RA No. 9173, otherwise known as the ' Philippine Nursing Act of 2002' states that the administration of Parenteral injection is included in the scope of nursing practice. ANSAP believes that the certification of Registered Nurses for IV therapy should be continuous for several reasons, pramount of which is safe nursing parctice. ANSAP believes that nurses who practice IV Therapy nursing those registered nurses who have been adquately trained and have completed the training requirements of the IV therapy Program are CERTIFIED IV THERAPY NURSE. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be a registered nurse with a current license from the PRC or Certified Board rating for new nurse.(Claiming Stub of your lincese)

B. COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Attendance to 3 day Basic IV therapy Training program approved by ANSAP.

2. Completion OF 3+ 3+1 requirements:

a. Three (3) sucessful peripheral IV cannulation to Patients. Three (3) Administrations of IV medication to patients. One (1) Administrations of blood or blood components to patients.

3. Submission of completed requirements within Three (3) months from date of IVT training, otherwise the 3-day Bsic IV therapy program shall be repeated.( but OLMGH is responsible to submit completed requirements to ANSAP office)
