Here's my idea😁

Character Idea

A sickly birdfolk merchant who is known to be the leader of the merchant guild. He looks very sickly but can actually be a high level tank due to the items they have which hide his constitution as his weakness.

Tip I Wish I Knew as a DM/Player

Using IRL dice is kinda better than a roller app. Rolling apps usually use an algorithm to determine the number it "rolls". If you overthink like me, dice might be better. Apps are still convenient though especially if no one has dice. 🎲

Scene Idea:

In a port town where sailors come in to drink their free time away, a nearby apothecary is selling hangover cures that work so miraculously. This gives the healer a booming business but soon the local drunk delinquents start thinking of terrorizing the healer over it

Item Idea:

A smoking device that creates astral projections of living beings with the cost of extracting the user's soul little by little with every use. The magic is so strong it actually makes the next spell casted by anyone in the area to proc wild surge.

Here's my idea😁

NPC Idea

An opera performer, who plays a prince in an upcoming performance, is a secret contact of the party in order to instigate a coup. He creates drawings of different political buildings as he relaxes around town. These drawings are used like scouting material for the coup. He also loves chocolate to a fault.

Item/Adventure Hook Idea:

In an attic to one of the PC's home, a family picture is found to be frozen in ice inside an old wardrobe. This is the product of a dastardly bard using his magic microphone to put a curse on the people of the picture which takes effect soon.

If you're gonna pull something out of your butt while DMing, at least be consistent with it.

If you notice your DM doing this, just play along. Pointing it out won't really help them much.

Event Idea:

A lost village is under siege due to a rare salt found exclusively in their territory. Because of miscommunication due to a language barrier, events intensify to the point the opposition puts a general in command that sees this as just a game of violence.

Item Idea:

The Baby Phoenix

A portable cauldron that you can smuggle in and out of places by placing it in a pillow case. When activated, the cauldron starts boiling fire inside and that's where you put your ingredients to create things out of their ashes.

NPC Idea:

An elderly lady who loves knitting found living near a forest. She loves visitors and plays simple card games with the party and is just a wholesome grandmotherly woman. She is actually one of the PC's deity who is simply looking over and helping them in small ways.

NPC Idea:

A hobo who lives by the river that doesn't really have much bearing to the story (unless you want them to be) but is just a fun NPC to rp with since he speaks with a very fast speech that he can't be easily understood.

Though I tend to optimize my characters as a player, make characters who seem unorthodox. You'll never know that what you made might be more fun to play than an optimized build.
