The Pandemic Has Changed Our Lives Forever.
It cannot be denied that the pandemic has had a tremendous impact globally, and for better or for worse, it has changed the way we live. Even more than two years after the lockdowns, we continue to bear the brunt of its effects on our lives.
And yet, it is still often said that the next big outbreak is not a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’.
The protection offered by mass vaccinations inevitably wane over time. Newer, even more infectious variants may appear. There will always be the ever-present threat posed by all kinds of illnesses and contagious diseases.
COVID-19 is less lethal now, but some segments of the population remain especially vulnerable, such as the very young, the immunocompromised, the elderly, and the many pandemic survivors who continue to suffer from long-term debilitating health issues.
As of November 2022, there have been more than 635 million cases worldwide, and over 6.6 million people tragically losing their lives.
Globally, there has been a severe impact on businesses and industries because of the lockdowns, and even today the world’s economies teeter on the brink of recession, partly because of the events set in motion during the pandemic.
There are also long-term effects on learning and academia that may affect the productivity of nations and societies for years to come.
But despite all of these, we continue to move forward with life under the new normal.
