Belle (not her real name), aged 13.

My daughter Belle is shy and timid. Theres really no telling if something wrong because she seldom expresses herself. I encourage her to be more expressive and voice out the things that bother her. One day, she told me she didnt want to go to school anymore. It turns out she was bullied in class because one of eyes would deviate. This broke my heart. During our assessment at Vision Therapy Philippines, I found out she also has more concerning problems with her vision. I felt really bad I failed to see the signs. No wonder I notice her squint as she reads during our study sessions. I always thought it was a normal reflex we do when our eyes get tired. We were encouraged to do Vision Therapy and was all for it. I heard great feedbacks after all. In a matter of 6 months, I noticed great changes in our shy and timid, Belle. She’s bubbly now and enthusiastic going to school. She’s making friends, tells them about her therapy and how much she enjoys it. I’m a junior content writer which mean I spend a lot of time reading - doing research and looking at my computer, most hours of the day. I had really bad headaches so I got myself checked. I was told I had tension headaches and took some pain meds. It worked for a while but as soon as I stopped taking the meds, my headaches just recurred and my vision got worse. Some kids find school easy, while others struggle to keep up with their peers in school, both academically and socially. They may have trouble following instructions and completing tasks. Moreover, ‘slow learners’ often have low self-esteem and may avoid reading and participating in sports.

Just about every school-based activity, from reading a textbook, to catching a ball on the field, requires good eyesight and other well-developed visual skills.

Kim (not her real name), aged 11.

Kim was screened at school at the end of 5th grade and failed. She has always struggled in school and with reading in particular. Homework took a long amount of time and she had developed lots of negative feelings toward school. I worried when she advances to a harder grade level and when the work gets harder. Luckily, a concerned parent who had the same struggle introduced us to Vision Therapy Philippines and told us how they helped them. Without any hesitation, we booked a consult and was amazed with how our Kim transformed after her therapy. Another Happy Patient and Mommy!

According to Nicole’s Mother:

Before Vision Therapy, we noticed our child’s eyes were turned inwards and her eyes didn’t work together. Her brain would rather turn off one eye because that was easier to do. Through Vision Therapy, the brain has learned to make both eyes work together as a team. Nicole’s eyes no longer moves inward and she can look at me with her eyes straight and aligned. Unlike before, I always ask her what she’s looking at, Because it seems she is not looking directly at me when am talking to her. But now am very happy to see her with her eyes aligned.

Nicole used to have short term memory, trouble naming body parts with laterality and difficulty spelling and reading. It affected her confidence in school and interaction with her classmates. She was diagnosed to have Global Delay and this came with many challenges, however we did not stop in searching for alternative treatments or therapies to uncover any underlying issues that may be present and this is exactly how we chose Vision Therapy for our child.
