Today, we celebrate the incredible work of Occupational Therapists (OTs) around the globe. OTs are the unsung heroes who help people of all ages and abilities participate in the activities they want and need to do—their "occupations."

Whether it's helping a child play, an adult return to work after an injury, or a senior maintain independence at home, OTs focus on adding life to days.

Thank you to every OT for your creativity, compassion, and commitment to empowering meaningful lives!

Playing the card game helps children develop cognitive skills such as number and color recognition and matching, working memory, attention and planning. It also teaches social skills such as turn-taking, following rules, communicatioj and emotional regulation! 🧠

The importance of the different levels of play, also known as Parten's Stages of Play, lies in their progressive role in developing a child's social, cognitive, physical, and emotional skills. Each stage builds a foundation for the next, moving a child from independent exploration to collaborative group interaction.

It's important to remember that these stages are a developmental guideline, not a rigid sequence. Children may engage in any of these play types at various ages, even returning to earlier stages like solitary play for focused individual exploration.

Occupational Therapists (OTs) often use play based interventions to support children's learning, development and growth. After all, play is the primary occupation of childhood! It's also one of the reasons Occupational Therapy can be so much fun! 😊🧡💙
