Vision 1 Million: Be an OSH Champion
Current situation
From 2003 to 2009, the incidence of occupational injuries has declined markedly following the upsurge in OSH consciousness in many industries in the country. A large part of this is also brought about by technological developments in safer work processes, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment.
However, despite continuous efforts by the DOLE, OSHC and their partners, we continue to face daunting challenges in maintaining a safe and healthy environment in Philippine workplaces. We have been hit by devastating work-related accidents which took the lives of hundreds of workers. Accidents which could have been prevented by efficient implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and vigilant monitoring by both the safety practitioners employed in all companies and of Government authorities.
