MARCH 12, 2026 | First Quarter Fire and Earthquake Evacuation Drill at National Children’s Hospital

The National Children’s Hospital successfully conducted its First Quarter Fire and Earthquake Evacuation Drill on March 12, 2026, led by the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit (HEDMU) under Dr. Christian Ramos, with Medical Center Chief Dr. Philip A. Morales serving as Incident Commander.

This critical exercise aimed to enhance hospital-wide preparedness and responsiveness by simulating real-world fire and earthquake scenarios. Key objectives included testing evacuation routes, assembly points, and communication protocols; evaluating response times for patient transfers (prioritizing vulnerable pediatric cases); and reinforcing roles across departments such as nursing, security, and administrative staff. Over 300 personnel, patients, and visitors participated, achieving full evacuation in under 8 minutes—well within DOH safety benchmarks.

This activity underscores our commitment to a culture of safety, aligning with Republic Act No. 1O121 (Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction Act) and DOH guidelines.
Together, we continue building a safer, more resilient healthcare environment for our young patients and community.
