Protecting lives—both human and animal—takes more than a single effort. It takes a united community.

Last March 11, the Nationwide Simultaneous Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive brought together compassion in action, led by the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association, the Bureau of Animal Industry of the Department of Agriculture and the Provincial, City, and Municipal Veterinarians League of the Philippines, alongside countless partners, such as the Philippine Animal Hospital Association, the Department of Health, and the World Health Organization, across the country.

In line with Rabies Awareness Month, this initiative is a powerful reminder that prevention is possible—and that a rabies-free Philippines is within reach when we work as one.

To our veterinarians, local government units, private sector partners, and responsible pet owners—maraming salamat po. Your commitment protects communities, saves lives, and brings us one step closer to a safer, healthier nation.

PVMA supports the Bureau of Animal Industry in strengthening the national campaign against rabies. Protecting both animal and public health requires sustained vaccination, responsible pet ownership, and strong collaboration among veterinarians, local governments, and communities.

We encourage veterinarians and partners nationwide to continue supporting these efforts as we work toward a rabies-free Philippines.

The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) proudly supported the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) of the Department of Agriculture during the Rabies Summit 2026, held last March 3–5 at the Luxent Hotel.

Over the course of three days, leaders from DOH,DILG, Dept of Educ and DA, international organizations, the veterinary profession, and civil society came together to reaffirm a shared commitment of ending rabies in the Philippines through concerted, united action.

PVMA, represented by its President Dr. Lina S. Policarpio, presented updates on its flagship initiative, “A Rabies-Free Future Starts with Me!” Meanwhile, Dr. Virginia Venturina highlighted rabies control programs from FAVA member countries, showcasing regional collaboration and best practices.

The summit underscored the power of partnerships. Through strengthened cooperation among veterinary professionals, local governments, and communities, BAI continues to advance its mission of achieving a safer, healthier, and rabies-free Philippines.

The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association congratulates the PVDNA and PVDAFI for their successful holding of the International Farmers Summit 2026!

During the IFS, the PVMA showed its support to farmers as its President, Dr. Lina S. Policarpio, served as Resource Speaker during the Agricultural and Economic Summit during Day 3.

In Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan’s speech, he recalls the PVMA’s efforts to push for the creation of municipal veterinary offices mandatory across the country.

CPF, meanwhile, turned over supplies as part of its commitment and partnership with the PVMA in its anti-rabies campaign efforts - A Rabies-Free Future Starts with Me.

We thank the IFS for giving us a platform to show our support to our agriculture sector. Once again, congratulations from all of us at the PVMA.
