👨⚕️ Meet the Experts: Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist (CPO)
These healthcare professionals are highly skilled clinicians who helps patients achieve independence, improve mobility and enhance quality life.
🦾 The Prosthetist
The Prosthetist specializes in the design, fabrication, and fitting of prostheses—artificial limbs
Core Role: To evaluate, measure, and fit patients who have experienced limb loss (due to trauma, disease, or congenital conditions).
What they do: They create the custom socket (the part that connects the residual limb to the prosthetic), select the appropriate components (feet, knees, hands), and fit the device to the patient on how to use and care for their new limb.
🛡️ The Orthotist
The Orthotist specializes in the designing, fabrication, and fitting of orthoses—leg braces, hand splints, spinal brace, and inserts
Core Role: To design and provide external support (limb or spine) to the evaluated musculoskeletal or neurological conditions of the patients
What they do: They create custom devices like spinal braces (for scoliosis), ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), or knee braces to provide positional and functional support to the body part
In short: They are the engineers and clinicians of mobility, blending science, anatomy, and custom fabrication to empower patients.
