"MARYKNOLL MANDALAS FOR TRUTH, PEACE, AND JUSTICE"

Last December 1, 2025, the MC HEU Guidance and Counseling Office hosted an art immersion session, “Advocacy Mandalas for MC Staff,” in partnership with Art Appreciation students Sofia Ysabel Mariano, Maria Lucia Bautista, and Danielle Radcliffe Imperio.

Organized in partial fulfillment of Sir Joseph Renta’s final course requirements, the session provided a safe space for representatives from the Office of Student Affairs, Registrar and Admissions Office, and the Office for Student Services and Academic Support to express their thoughts and personal hopes for the Philippines. Aiming to transform negative feelings towards current news into empowerment and positive change, among the advocacies given visual form by the mandalas were urgent recommendations to prioritize student literacy as a reminder of the youth’s untapped potential and environmental care to aid flood control and the agricultural sector. Other calls to action included breaking the cycle of corruption by staying politically informed, consciously choosing conviction that the masses’ current struggles could still blossom into success, and remaining supportive of one another in the fight for good governance, especially in a media-saturated era constantly shifting netizens’ focus away from accountability.

The session began with a reminder that all members of the Miriam College community deserve to take care of their well-being, which both the MC HEU Guidance and Counseling Office and ILAW Center encourage and are open to collaboration on through their respective offered psychosocial support services. Next was a brief discussion of mandalas and their connection to personal reflection and social awareness, followed by a guided mindfulness exercise in preparation for the mandala creations. Afterwards, each participant shared their insights and explanations of their depicted advocacies.

The created bond went beyond social responsibility, as participants were also given a chance to strengthen camaraderie over leisurely conversation, complementary sweets such as chocolate, and upbeat K-pop music by Seventeen.

Day 5

The HEU GCO staff concluded the week-long Guidance celebration with a benchmarking event at the College of St. Benilde - Benilde-Well Being Center on October 24, 2025. This event served as a fruitful exchange of ideas, uniting innovative practices and well-being strategies. Mr. El Anelio R. Barnachea, the Director of the BWC, along with the BWC associates, graciously welcomed the GCO staff and provided a comprehensive tour of the Center's diverse facilities.

Day 4

The MC Katatagan ng Magulang talk on “Bridging Support, Enhancing Student Growth” with Ms. Leny Gadiana, RGC, RPm, LPT emphasized the vital role of parental involvement in nurturing confident and resilient learners. Today’s talk highlighted the role of parental engagement in strengthening students’ academic progress, emotional well-being, and personal development. We are grateful to all parents who continue to walk hand in hand with us in their child’s journey!
Wrapping up the Guidance Week, the guidance activities at the MMJ foyer concluded with an intimate Closing Ceremony, celebrating a meaningful week of growth, flow and connection. Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed and took part in this week’s guidance activities. Your support made our Guidance Week a success!

Blending of colors, showcasing creativity and inspiring uniqueness were captured on the 3rd day of the HEU Guidance Week.

Mr. Jorick G. Ducay, a modern impressionist painter and a visual artist shared his expertise to students and employees discussing important points to remember when creating an artwork. The participants were given a chance to experience making their artwork using materials that would highlight their innovation and creativity.

At the end of the session, all art works were presented to the judges namely Mr. Jorick Ducay, Mr. Jonnel Reyes and Ms. Rian Gallo. Ms. Jannah Valenzuela, GCO intern from PNU, won the best artwork and got a gift from Mr. Jorick. Another exciting surprise was his gift of the artwork he made to the GCO.

As part of the vibrant array of activities set for this year's MC HEU Guidance Week, students and employees had a distinctive sensory experience through a live Perfume Demonstration that seamlessly blended creativity, science, and self-expression. Held on October 21, the event provided participants with an opportunity to delve into the captivating realm of fragrances—ranging from an exploration of the chemistry underpinning perfume-making to an examination of how scents can profoundly influence mood, memory, and self-assurance.

The demonstration was expertly facilitated by Francis V. Pascasio, proprietor of Fragrant Lav. This emphasized the significance of selecting scents and their importance to personal identity and interpersonal connections. For many attendees, the experience transcended mere olfactory pleasure; it became a journey of linking fragrance to self-awareness and personal identity.

A particularly noteworthy aspect of the demonstration was the complimentary samples of perfumes and sanitizers distributed, alongside a one-day sale of bottles of perfume, sanitizer, and body wash available to the members of the MC community.

The HEU Guidance and Counseling Office kicked off the Guidance Week with an inspiring talk on "Creating Safe Spaces: Respecting Boundaries, Community, and Flow for Wellbeing" with Ms. Czcharina Mae Bolima, setting the tone for a week of growth and connection.

A dazzling showcase of creativity and confidence stole the spotlight during the Cosplay Catwalk Competition. Our heartfelt congratulations to all our cosplay participants and winners who brought their characters to life.
