The Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU) of East Avenue Medical Center successfully underwent a Facility Visit and Assessment conducted by the Philippine Forensic Medicine Society Inc. (PFMS). This rigorous evaluation is designed to fortify the forensic and medico-legal competencies of our healthcare professionals, elevating the quality of specialized care and protective services.

A heartfelt thank you to our visionary Medical Center Chief, Dr. Alfonso G. Nuñez III, for his unwavering support of EAMC-WCPU initiatives!

Sa pagdiriwang natin ng buwan na ito, hindi lang natin aalalahanin ang kagalingan at katapangan ng bawat babaeng Pilipino. Isasabuhay rin natin ang makabagong Babaylan — nangunguna, lumalaban, pinakikinggan, at may paninindigang kasingtatag ng ating pinagmulan.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 — 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁.

May mga umiiral tayong batas at mekanismo upang tugunan ang violence against women. Ngunit higit pa sa mga batas, kailangan din nating baguhin ang mga paniniwala at kulturang patuloy na nagbibigay-daan sa pang-aabuso.

Hindi pananamit ang problema.

Ang problema ay ang kawalan ng paggalang sa dignidad ng kababaihan at ang kakulangan sa pagkilala na ang kababaihan ay may pantay na karapatan tulad ng lahat.

2026 na. Tigilan na natin ang ganitong sistema.

Inilunsad ng Quezon City government sa pangunguna ni Vice Mayor Gian Sotto ang libreng legal consultation sa Legislative Building ng Quezon City Hall. Ang lingguhang programa ay tumatakbo tuwing Martes mula 9 a.m. hanggang 12 noon, pinangungunahan ni Paul Gabriel Merida, lead legal consultant ng opisina, kasama ang mga abogado mula sa Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Quezon City Chapter.

Ayon kay Merida, layunin ng proyekto na magbigay ng legal na tulong sa mga hindi kayang kumuha ng abogado at sirain ang takot na kadalasang nararamdaman ng publiko sa proseso ng legal aid. Bukas ang programa sa lahat ng uri ng kaso, at plano rin itong palawakin sa iba’t ibang distrito ng lungsod.

Ani Merida: “Hindi namin tinitingnan kung taga-Quezon City ka o hindi; ang importante ay kailangan mo ng tulong, handa kaming magbigay.”
