The Sablan Municipal Health Office continues its commitment to safeguarding public health through regular microbiological water sampling, ensuring that every household in the community has access to safely managed drinking water services. On October 8, 2025, the team led by Municipal Sanitation Inspector Ms. Charina Madarang conducted water collection activities at the Shelpi main water sources and intake tanks supplying Sitio Peday of Kamog, Sitios Palali and Salat of Poblacion, and Sitio Monglo of Bayabas. She was assisted by Mr. Ramsey Quinio, one of the Sablan LGU Patient Transport Vehicle drivers, Mr. Dexter Camacho of the Monglo-Bayabas Water Association, and Mr. Julius Lawana, President of Peday-Shelpi Waterworks.

Microbiological sampling aims to detect possible contamination and ensure that the water distributed to households meets the quality standards set by the Department of Health. Through these consistent monitoring efforts, the municipality reaffirms its dedication to providing safe, clean, and reliable water for all Sablan residents.

Barangay Pappa Health Station, led by Midwife Ms. Gemma Tolmod and DOH-HRH Nurse Ms. Aprila Lomboy, conducted handwashing demonstrations and drills for Pappa Multi-Grade School students on October 17, 2025. The activity, held in celebration of Global Handwashing Day observed every October 15, aimed to teach students the importance of proper hand hygiene in preventing common illnesses such as diarrhea, flu, and hand, foot, and mouth disease.

Handwashing with soap and clean water remains one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent infections and promote overall wellness. Inclusivity for the elderly was also emphasized through home visits and health monitoring at Sitio Taya, alongside School-Based Immunization coordination and behavioral change campaign sessions conducted with the assistance of Barangay Health Workers.

In its steadfast commitment to nurturing a healthier and more informed generation, the Sablan Municipal Health Office (MHO), led by Dr. Junneth B. De Guzman, spearheaded a Health Awareness Forum on October 17, 2025, at the third floor Sablan Municipal Building.

The forum focused on HIV-AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Mental Health, and the ill effects of drug use, smoking, and va**ng, complemented by a session on Nutrition for the Youth delivered by Nutritionist-Dietitian Ms. Maryflor Bestre-Martin. The activity was funded by the Benguet Provincial Health Office and the Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) Family and Community Medicine medical officers and post-graduate interns who served as resource speakers.

Hon. Mayor Alfredo B. Dacumos Jr. graced the event, inspiring students to live responsibly and make choices that safeguard their health and future, emphasizing that unhealthy habits and risky behaviors can lead to a shorter and less fulfilling life.

Following the lectures, HIV counseling and screening were conducted by Ms. Leonila Bawanan and Ms. Myra Gwyn Guilao, with Ms. Sunshine Bongsiw serving as the event host.

A total of 55 students from Saint Louis School of Sablan (SLSS), guided by Principal Ferdinand Luis Ringor and faculty, actively participatedโ€”reflecting Sablanโ€™s continued dedication to empowering its youth through health awareness and education.
