In celebration of the 2025 National Health Emergency Preparedness Day, the Sablan Municipal Emergency Unified Team assisted Barangay Bayabas in a vehicular accident scenario simulation exercise on December 5, 2025, at Payda, Bayabas. Requested by the barangay and led by PB Hon. Ricardo Ciano, the drill aimed to strengthen responders’ readiness and coordination. The Municipal Health Office, through DOH-HRH nurse Aprila Ann F. Lomboy and midwife Jolina L. Peter, provided medical support alongside the Sablan PNP, BFP, and MDRRMO, headed by Mr. Galo Santa, reinforcing collaboration and community preparedness.

The Municipality of Sablan convened its Municipal Health Board, Municipal Nutrition Council, and HIV–AIDS Council for a joint 4th Quarter Program Implementation Review on December 5, 2025, at Villa Navarro Resort, Caba, La Union. The meeting highlighted progress in key health services, including nutrition initiatives, disease prevention efforts, HIV–AIDS advocacy, and blood program services. Council members assessed current challenges, reviewed data, and set priorities to enhance community health outcomes. The collaborative gathering reaffirmed Sablan’s commitment to accessible, inclusive, and evidence-based health programs for all residents.

The best way to prevent acquiring HIV is having no s*xual activity at all.
𝐁 — BE FAITHFUL TO YOUR PARTNER
Having one s*xual partner ensures security and reduces exposure to HIV infection.
𝐂 — CONSISTENT USE OF CONDOMS
Condom adds as a protective layer in getting into contact with the body fluids that carry HIV.
𝐃 — DO NOT USE ILLEGAL DRUGS
Drugs pose risks not just in acquiring HIV through injecting, but also increase risky behaviors.
𝐄 — EDUCATE YOURSELF - Knowledge holds power. Awareness and an educated mind influence behavioral change and improve informed decisions.

From December 3 to 9, Sablan observes Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Consciousness Week, under Proclamation No. 501. The campaign emphasizes the importance of early detection, prevention, and treatment of ENT, head, and neck diseases, encouraging residents to prioritize their health and seek timely medical care for better well-being.

Every December 3, the world observes the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), honoring the rights, dignity, and contributions of persons with disabilities. For 2025, WHO highlights the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” emphasizing inclusion in building healthier, equitable communities. This year, the focus is on how inclusive systems, especially in health, transform lives. Inclusive financing ensures access to essential care without financial hardship. Sablan joins the global movement, advocating equal opportunities, accessibility, and empowerment for all individuals.

The Benguet Provincial Health Office (PHO) will visit Sablan on December 4, 2025 at Sablan Gymnasium 8:30 am onwards, to conduct a wellness activity for pregnant and lactating women. Services include Social Behavior Change Communication on nutrition and mental health, prenatal checkups, laboratory tests, immunization, and ultrasound—promoting healthier mothers, babies, and communities.

Sablan Municipal Health Office joins the nationwide observance of Firecrackers Injury Prevention Month this December, guided by the 2025 theme “Iwas Paputok, Iwas Pinsala: Ligtas na Pasko para sa Lahat.”

Health staff representatives took part in the OPLAN PAALALA IWAS PAPUTOK 2025 motorcade, led by the Sablan Bureau of Fire Protection under FINSP Richard A. Alalag.

The activity urges safer holiday practices, avoiding firecracker injuries and following PNP regulations and RA 7183.
