EXCEPTION: EMPLOY EVERYONE, OPPRESS NO ONE PROJECT
INTRODUCTION
Pangasinan promotes equality to raise awareness and make sure that all individuals are treated equally and fairly. However, le***an, gay, bisexual and transgender, q***r or questioning, intersex, asexual, and more (LGBTQIA+) people experience lost economic opportunities due to discrimination. Although the 1987 Philippines Constitution guarantees the right pf every person to equal protection of the laws, without distinction or discrimination, the laws protecting human rights are not being equally applied easpecially to LGBTQIA+ members. Private establishments and companies in Pangasinan assert their management prerogative in hiring and distinguishing who can and cannot enter their premises which sometimes discriminate against LGBTQIA+ members.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the study is to explain the discriminatory practices in employment based on sexual orientation and gender identity among LGBT+ workers in Pangasinan. The main objectives are as follows: to examine the regularity of discrimination faced by LGBT+ workers; to examine the effect of an employer’s prejudice if faced on their work performance and satisfaction; to identify ways of reducing this discrimination within organizations; and to create a social environment for LGBT+ members that pushes them away from discrimination.
DESCRIPTION
Our group proposing the "EXCEPTION: EMPLOY EVERYONE, OPPRESS NO ONE PROJECT". This project is for the LGBTQIA+ people that are having a hard time to find a job because of their gender identity. The first one we want to propose is to change the point of view of everyone who's discriminate against LGBTQIA to have an equality, because each of everyone of us has a one shot to prove what she/he can do. Second is, make them realize that everyone has a freedom of choice, they are free to choose their gender identity, we don't have the rights to manipulate them or tell them what should they do. The last one is LGBTQIA+ deserve to be employed, sometimes they are more qualified of that position because of their ability.
SUPPORT
This project has set a goal to raised funds for providing cash assistance range from P5,000.00 to 8,000 for every LGBTQIA+ Members who experienced discrimination while applying for work. This would allow the LGBTQIA+ members to establish their own business.
