SAFE AND SOLEMN: PNP OVERSEES 100TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY IN MANAOAG
The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a generally peaceful and orderly observance of the 100th Canonical Coronation Anniversary of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Manaoag on April 22, 2026, in Manaoag, Pangasinan, attended by an estimated one million devotees throughout the day, including the grand procession.
From early morning until late evening, pilgrims steadily filled the town and surrounding routes, participating in masses, devotional activities, and the highlight procession. Despite the large turnout, crowd movement remained manageable and coordinated through close collaboration among police units, local authorities, church organizers, and volunteer groups.
To ensure public safety and immediate medical response, a total of 297 medical personnel were deployed, including 25 doctors and 20 ambulances strategically positioned around key convergence areas. On the law enforcement side, 1,252 PNP personnel were mobilized to secure the venue, manage traffic, and assist devotees, supported by force multipliers and partner agencies.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the disciplined conduct of the public and the coordinated efforts of all units on the ground.
“Lubos nating ikinagagalak na naging maayos at mapayapa ang pagdiriwang ng ika-100 taon ng canonical coronation. Sa dami ng dumalo, nakita natin ang malasakit at pakikiisa ng bawat isa. Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating mga kababayan sa kanilang kooperasyon at disiplina,” he said.
He added that the success of the event reflects the importance of preparation and partnership. “Hindi ito nagagawa ng pulis lamang. Sama-sama ito—local government, simbahan, volunteers, at ang ating mga deboto. Iyan ang tunay na lakas ng komunidad.”
The PNP emphasized that no major untoward incidents were recorded during the entire duration of the celebration, attributing this to proactive planning, visible police presence, and real-time coordination among deployed units. Assistance desks, route marshals, and mobile patrols were also stationed to promptly address concerns from the public.
The security and public safety operations for the event were carried out in line with the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, ensuring that large-scale religious gatherings are handled with preparedness, sensitivity, and efficiency.
As the event concluded, the PNP reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining safe and people-centered policing in all major national activities, anchored on its guiding principle: Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas—Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.
