The JBLMGH Hospital Safety Committee – Patient Safety Subcommittee proudly joins the global observance of World Patient Safety Day, a campaign that raises awareness on patient safety and promotes actions to reduce harm in healthcare.
This year’s theme, “Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child,” underscores the importance of protecting the most vulnerable members of our community by ensuring safe, quality, and compassionate care.
The activity began with our Patient Safety Officer, Ms. Gladys Ann V. Peña, who provided an overview of World Patient Safety Day and its significance.
Our distinguished speakers then shared their valuable insights:
Dr. Rowena P. Tapang-Vergara delivered a talk on Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child, emphasizing the global call to strengthen safety practices, improve the quality of care, and engage families and communities as active partners in health.
Dr. Paul Edwin T. Baltazar discussed Practical Strategies for Pediatric Patient Safety with a focus on Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI). He highlighted the importance of strict hand hygiene and care bundles, preventing medication errors through weight accuracy and double-checking, ensuring safe use of equipment and proper monitoring, and bridging communication gaps through structured handovers.
Dr. Rex Voltaire A. Ramos, Senior Hospital Safety Officer, presented a summary of patient safety incidents, providing valuable learnings to continuously improve our safety systems.
The program concluded with the National Patient Safety Goals Workshop Activity, which fostered collaboration, enhanced awareness, and strengthened our shared commitment to safe practices that benefit both patients and healthcare workers.
Through these discussions and activities, JBLMGH reaffirms its dedication to promoting a culture of safety in every aspect of patient care. Together, we stand with the global community in ensuring that every newborn and every child receives safe, high-quality, and life-saving care.
🧡 Because every child deserves safe care, always and everywhere.
