Hindi Lang Tamang Match — Kundi Pusong Marunong Magmalasakit

A true story.

Natutuhan ko na ang pagpili ng caregiver ay hindi lang tungkol sa skills o schedule — kundi kung may tunay na malasakit.
Kamakailan, nakita ko kung ano ang itsura kapag wala ‘yung puso sa ginagawa. Maayos naman sa duty, pero walang pakialam. Madalas nasa cellphone, hinahayaan lang si lola gumalaw kahit delikado. Kumakain nang hindi man lang tinitingnan kung may pagkain pa si lola. At isang oras bago matapos ang shift, ready nang umalis.
Kaya importante na ang pamilya mismo ay nag-oobserba, bumibisita, at hindi basta nagtitiwala lang sa salitang “okay lang ako.” Dahil ang caregiving ay hindi lang trabaho — ito ay tiwala at malasakit. Ang ating mga nakatatanda ay deserve ng higit pa sa isang taong basta nagtatrabaho lang para sa sahod.
