The National Capital Region Police Office has recorded 111 self-harm incidents between January 1 and March 23, 2026, a 236-percent increase from the 33 cases reported in the same period last year.

Many of these incidents, according to the NCRPO, stem from emotional distress, relationship issues, personal loss and financial pressure.

Metro Manila police have been working with schools, barangays and local stakeholders under the enhanced managing police operations framework to improve early detection and immediate response.
