The Primary Care Facility (PCF) of San Luis, Agusan del Sur successfully conducted a community-based IYCF (Infant and Young Child Feeding) Support Group Advocacy, Antenatal Care, and Family Planning sessions in selected barangays. The activity aimed to strengthen proper maternal and child nutrition practices, promote safe pregnancy, and empower families in making informed health decisions. Emphasis was given to the importance of facility-based delivery to ensure safer labor and quality emergency care for mothers and newborns. As part of the initiative, food packs and nutritional supplements were also distributed to pregnant women and mothers to support their health and well-being. This ongoing effort reflects the LGU’s commitment to nurturing healthier families and building a stronger, well-informed community.

Last October 23, 2025, the technical team from DOH Caraga conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) on the Functionality of the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) of the San Luis Primary Care Facility (PCF).

This activity aimed to ensure the continued efficiency and responsiveness of our local disease surveillance system—an essential pillar in protecting the health and safety of our community.

The M&E assessed the ESU’s performance in disease detection, reporting, and response, which are vital components in safeguarding public health and preventing outbreaks.

This initiative reaffirms our shared commitment to strengthening the foundation of public health through evidence-based monitoring and continuous improvement.

Last October 23, 2025, the Department of Health (DOH)–Caraga Region, led by OIC-Regional Director Ms. Sadaila Raki-in, conducted a Health Facility Visit at the Super Health Center in Barangay Don Alejandro, San Luis, Agusan del Sur.

This visit was made possible through the strong support of Municipal Mayor Hon. Ronaldo Y. Corvera and the active participation of Municipal Health Officer Dr. Alvin Jay D. Labella. The activity aimed to assess local health services, ensure facility readiness, and further strengthen coordination between DOH and the Local Government Unit in delivering quality primary healthcare to the people of San Luis.

OIC-RD Sadaila Raki-in commended the LGU for its commitment to improving health services, while Mayor Ronaldo Y. Corvera reaffirmed his dedication to continuous development and sustainable health initiatives. Dr. Alvin Jay D. Labella also expressed gratitude to the DOH team for their continued guidance and support.

This activity served as an empowering platform to enhance the knowledge, skills, and commitment of our dedicated BNS workers in delivering quality nutrition and primary health services to every barangay. We were deeply honored by the presence of our special guest speaker, Ms. Jyl Patrisha Genotiva, RND, NDDP of PDOHO-Agusan del Sur, who shared invaluable insights on nutrition program implementation, community engagement, and the role of grassroots health workers in fighting malnutrition.

The Municipality of San Luis proudly conducted the Barangay Health Workers (BHW) Reference Manual Training, a vital capacity-building activity aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of our dedicated BHWs in delivering quality and people-centered health services in the community.

This meaningful initiative was made possible through the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit of San Luis, under the dynamic leadership of Hon. Mayor Ronaldo Y. Corvera, who continuously champions programs that empower grassroots health workers and strengthen the delivery of essential health services across all barangays.

Guided by the technical expertise and supervision of the Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Alvin Jay D. Labella, together with the passionate involvement of our Doctor to the Barrios, Dr. Hanni Bless Linconada, the training served as an avenue to deepen understanding of the updated BHW Reference Manual, highlighting the critical role of BHWs as the frontline partners of the Department of Health and the LGU in implementing primary health care, health promotion, and disease prevention initiatives.

This activity was also made more meaningful through the active participation and full support of all Barangay Officials in San Luis, who recognize that strong community health begins with empowered and well-trained BHWs. Their presence and encouragement reflect a whole-of-community approach toward achieving a healthier and more resilient San Luis.

The BHW Reference Manual Training underscores the LGU’s firm commitment to continuously invest in human resource development for health, ensuring that every BHW is equipped not only with knowledge but also with confidence and compassion in serving the people. The Municipality of San Luis, Agusan del Sur, continues to take great strides in advancing public health and strengthening disease prevention efforts through the successful conduct of the Fieldworkers and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) Training on Notifiable Diseases, Barangay Epidemiology, and Surveillance.

This important capacity-building activity aimed to equip our dedicated field health personnel and barangay frontliners with enhanced knowledge and practical skills in identifying, reporting, and managing notifiable diseases, as well as understanding the vital role of epidemiology and surveillance in early detection and response to potential health threats at the community level.

With the unwavering leadership and support of the Local Government Unit of San Luis, headed by Hon. Mayor Ronaldo Y. In a continuing effort to promote voluntary blood donation and ensure adequate blood supply for those in need, successful blood donation activities were conducted in Barangay Culi and Barangay Baylo, San Luis, Agusan del Sur last October 1-2,2025. The initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Municipal Health Office, barangay officials, local health personnel, and dedicated partner agencies.

The activity aimed to raise awareness on the importance of regular blood donation, foster community involvement in life-saving efforts, and strengthen the culture of volunteerism. Dozens of residents participated, showing their support and compassion by donating blood — a simple yet powerful act that can save lives.

This ongoing campaign reflects the municipality’s commitment to building a healthier and more responsive community through collective action.
