The Municipality of San Luis, Agusan del Sur, continues to take great strides in advancing public health and strengthening disease prevention efforts through the successful conduct of the Fieldworkers and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) Training on Notifiable Diseases, Barangay Epidemiology, and Surveillance.
This important capacity-building activity aimed to equip our dedicated field health personnel and barangay frontliners with enhanced knowledge and practical skills in identifying, reporting, and managing notifiable diseases, as well as understanding the vital role of epidemiology and surveillance in early detection and response to potential health threats at the community level.
With the unwavering leadership and support of the Local Government Unit of San Luis, headed by Hon. Mayor Ronaldo Y. Corvera, the initiative reflects the LGUโs firm commitment to uphold a proactive and preventive approach to public health โ ensuring that every barangay is capable of monitoring and responding swiftly to emerging diseases and outbreaks.
Guided by the expertise and dedication of the Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Alvin Jay D. Labella, and the enthusiastic support of our Doctor to the Barrios, Dr. Hanni Bless Linconada, the training emphasized the importance of accurate data collection, prompt reporting, and coordinated response mechanisms to strengthen the local health surveillance system. Through these efforts, our health frontliners are better prepared to safeguard the well-being of every San Luisnon.
The event also highlighted the invaluable partnership of our Barangay Officials across San Luis, whose active involvement and continuous encouragement play a crucial role in the effective implementation of disease surveillance and prevention programs at the grassroots level. Their commitment exemplifies true community leadership, working hand in hand with health professionals in promoting safety, preparedness, and resilience.
This initiative not only reinforces the Department of Healthโs advocacy for community-based surveillance but also reflects the municipalityโs shared vision of โOne San Luis, One Healthy Communityโ โ where every individual, every barangay, and every health worker stands united in protecting the health and future of the people.
Together, through education, cooperation, and compassion, the Municipality of San Luis proudly continues its mission to build a healthier, safer, and more resilient community for all.
