👁️ 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖? 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬!

Sight is precious- and often taken for granted. This Sight Saving Month, we are reminded of the importance of preventing avoidable blindness and promoting eye health, especially among children and persons with disabilities.

Here are 5 simple tips to help protect your eyes:

👓 1. Wear protective eyewear when outdoors or doing activities that could harm your eyes.
🥦 2. Eat a healthy diet rich in Vitamin A (carrots, leafy greens, sweet potatoes).
💧 3. Take screen breaks, follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
🩺 4. Get regular eye checkups, especially for children and elderly loved ones.
🛑 5. Avoid rubbing your eyes and always wash your hands before touching them.

L👀K: iStrength Project in Biliran Province

iStrength or the “Strengthening Inclusive Local Eye Health Systems in Three Provinces of Region 8 to provide Accessible Quality Services for All” project is initiated through a partnership between international and local NGOs. With funding from CBM Australia, CBM Global Philippines has engaged with local eye health organizations, Resources for the Blinds, Inc. (RBI), Eye Hear Foundation, Inc. (EHFI), and National Committee for Sight Preservation (NCSP), to carry out the goals and objectives of the project and address the challenges in the local eye health care systems in the provinces of Leyte, Northern Samar, and Biliran in Eastern Visayas (Region VIII).
