CASE OF THE WEEK at Licera Vision Care
A patient came to our clinic complaining of dark-brown spots floating in her right eye and flashes of light that started two days earlier.
Our examination revealed:
Right eye: Fresh bleeding inside the eye
Left eye: Yellowish deposits from leaky retinal blood vessels
Both eyes: Cataracts that were unusually advanced for her age
She shared that she has no known health problems and doesn’t take any medication. However, these findings often signal underlying systemic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure.
✅ What we did:
We referred her immediately to a retina specialist for urgent evaluation and treatment, and advised her to undergo a complete blood work-up.
Eye Health Reminder:
If you suddenly see floaters, flashes of light, or a curtain-like shadow in your vision — seek an eye check-up right away. These could be signs of a retinal tear, retinal detachment, or bleeding inside the eye.
Acting fast can save your vision.
