The 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐂) Through its 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 (𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐑𝐔), led by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐌. 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐚, recently completed a successful two-day workshop on Technical Writing Workshop on Journal Publication at Conference Room, 9th Floor, Tower A Building, Southern Isabela Medical Center on November 13-14, 2025.

This two-day workshop was intended to impart researchers with skills in writing and publishing in turning their completed research into research papers ready for journal publication. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐬 𝐓. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 served as resource speakers for the workshop, sharing their expertise and guiding participants throughout the program. Adding significance to the event, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨 𝐎. 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚, 𝐈𝐈𝐈, 𝐎𝐈𝐂, 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐈𝐈, personally delivered an inspiring and motivating message to the participants.

Participants in this PRC-accredited program received 14 CPD units from the CPD Council of Medicine and 15 CPD units from the CPD Council of Nursing.

The Professional Education, Training and Research Unit (PETRU), headed by Dr. Emmanuel M. Salamanca, FPCP, FPCC, the PETRU Officer, is conducting the Training and Workshop on Translating Health Research into Policy, which is being graced by Dr. Melchor C. Dela Cruz, Jr., MHA, FPOGS, the Medical Center Chief II of Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC), from December 2-3, 2024 at Mango Suites, Santiago City.

The 2-day event is aiming to equip researchers, with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively translate health research into actionable policies.

Resource speakers include Ms. Diana Dalisay Orolfo, RPh, MPH and Mr. Patrick James Encarnacion, RPh, who are experts in Health Policy and Administration, as well as pharmacuetical care and management.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be better equipped to navigate the policy-making process, communicate research effectively, and actively contribute to the development of policies that will improve the quality of healthcare services in our institution.

SIMC PETRU - Research & Learning Resource Section joins SIMC IPCC-AMS Committee in congratulating Fontanilla StephenRae, PharmD for presenting two (2) posters in the recently concluded Antimicrobial Use Point Prevalence Survey National Dissemination Forum 2024 by the Department of Health (DOH) and Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) last November 12-13, 2024 in Parañaque City.
