📢 ANNOUNCEMENT: EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS REMINDER

In light of recent seismic activities, the Saint Thomas Aquinas College of Sogod reminds everyone to remain alert and prepared at all times. Earthquakes can strike without warning, so knowing what to do can save lives.

Before an Earthquake:

Secure heavy objects and furniture to prevent them from falling.

Prepare a Go Bag with food, water, flashlight, first aid kit, important documents, and other essentials.

Identify safe spots in every room such as under sturdy tables or against interior walls.

During an Earthquake:

DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON!

Stay away from windows, mirrors, and heavy furniture.

If outdoors, move to an open area away from buildings, trees, and power lines.

After an Earthquake:

Check yourself and others for injuries.

Evacuate calmly if necessary, following the instructions of authorities.

Be alert for aftershocks and avoid entering damaged structures.

Let’s all do our part in ensuring safety and readiness during emergencies. Stay calm, stay alert, and stay informed.

📢 Dear Thomasians,

The Health Services Unit wishes to inform everyone about the increasing number of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) cases reported in nearby communities.

In line with our commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe school environment, we encourage all members of the Thomasian community to stay vigilant and follow these preventive measures:

🧼 Wash hands frequently – especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after playing.
🙅‍♂️ Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of HFMD (rashes, fever, mouth sores).

🍽️ Do not share eating utensils, cups, towels, or personal items.

🧴 Disinfect frequently-touched surfaces and toys regularly.

🤧 Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

🏠 Stay home if feeling unwell – protect others by resting and recovering fully.

Let’s work together to keep our campus safe and healthy for all Thomasians. 💛

Stay safe and God bless! 🙏

🩺 STAC Health Services in Action
📅 July 21, 2025

STAC Health Services promptly responded to several medical cases on campus, staying true to our commitment of providing accessible, quality healthcare for all Thomasians.

✅ A Grade 8 student was brought to the clinic at around 2:30 PM due to abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. He was assessed by our School Nurse, Sir Vince, and referred to Health Services coordinator Sir JV for further evaluation, documentation, and coordination with the student’s parents. Our school physician, Dra. Barrantes, administered IV (injection) medication. The student was monitored post-treatment and later sent home with prescribed medication.

✅ On the same day, our team also assisted:
• A Grade 9 student experiencing nausea and fatigue
• An adult male construction worker from the Sacred Heart Building project who sustained an eye injury

Both were treated and sent home with proper prescriptions.

🩺 Ongoing Medical Check-Ups
We also continue to conduct medical check-ups for all college-level enrollees as part of our pre-enrollment health screening.

💡 At STAC, we remain dedicated to delivering immediate, compassionate, and professional medical care for our students, staff, and entire school community.
