The Midwifery Student Organization (MSO) of Kalinga State University proudly celebrated National Midwifery Week on October 23, 2025, in front of the Birthing Clinic at the CHNS Building, embracing the theme โMidwives: Critical in Every Crisis.โ This meaningful event served not only as a tribute to the unwavering dedication of midwives but also as a platform for midwifery students to deepen their understanding of the professionโs vital role in maternal and newborn care, especially during times of crisis. The celebration began with warm welcome remarks from Ma'am Christina Chomeg, MSO Co-adviser, who set the tone for a day filled with inspiration and unity. MSO President Dominador Simangan followed with a heartfelt rationale, honoring the compassion, expertise, and resilience of midwives in ensuring safe pregnancies and postnatal care.
College Dean Ma'am Marlita E. Quesada formally opened the program, encouraging students to remain focused on their goals and to uphold the highest standards of care within their communities. Mr. Ronald Bulwayan, Director for Student Development and Placement Services, delivered an empowering message, reminding students of the critical role midwives play during emergencies and urging them to stay committed to their noble calling. The keynote address was delivered by Ma'am Elenarose P. Tappa, RM, LMT, LPT, who passionately emphasized that โthe future of maternal care is in your hands.โ She highlighted the immense responsibility midwives carry, as every life begins in their care, and inspired students to keep their passion alive and their dedication unwavering.
Throughout the event, students engaged in various activities that not only fostered camaraderie but also reinforced their academic and professional growth. The MSO officers were commended for their active leadership and seamless coordination, which ensured the success of the celebration. The midwifery students, united in spirit and purpose, brought joy, laughter, and energy to the occasion, making it a truly memorable experience. As the day concluded, the event left a lasting impression filled with cherished memories, renewed motivation, and a deeper appreciation for the midwifery profession. It was a celebration that ignited hearts, strengthened bonds, and reaffirmed the studentsโ commitment to becoming compassionate and competent midwives in every crisis.
